Lance chats each week with interesting people about their approaches to interact with consciousness and get the most out of their (and their clients) lives. Many talks are upon things like energy healing, hypnosis, meditation and other curious magical things.
William T Batten joins me in this episode of Akasha Talks, to explore a subject that sits right at the edge of belief, psychology and lived experience.
We talk about telekinesis. Not as fantasy or entertainment, but as a trainable skill. Will shares his approach to teaching telekinesis through the classic psi wheel experiment, including spinning foil under glass and why he sees this as a foundational ability rather than a party trick.
From there, we move into mindsight, sometimes called sight without eyes. We explore what it claims to be, how it is trained, and how it relates to broader psi development.
As someone deeply immersed in hypnosis and altered states, I was especially interested in how hypnosis interweaves with these practices. We unpack how belief, expectation, unconscious learning and state induction can dramatically accelerate skill acquisition. Is telekinesis a paranormal ability, a consciousness phenomenon, a nervous system skill, or something that emerges when the unconscious mind is properly engaged?
We also go somewhere unexpected.
We explore Christianity.
What does telekinesis mean in a Christian framework? Are miracles, faith and spiritual authority pointing to similar capacities within human consciousness? Can hypnosis and psi development sit inside a spiritual worldview without contradiction?
This conversation is not about blind belief or debunking. It is about inquiry.
We discuss:
• What telekinesis actually is and how it is trained
• The role of feedback and measurable results in psi work
• Mindsight and the concept of perception beyond conventional vision
• The relationship between hypnosis and accelerated learning
• Belief, state and unconscious influence
• Whether spiritual traditions support or conflict with psi development
• What it means psychologically when someone succeeds or fails in these trainings
If you are curious about consciousness, human potential, hypnosis, spiritual frameworks, or the edges of what might be possible, this episode will stretch you.
As always on Akasha Talks, we approach extraordinary claims with openness and discernment.
Enjoy.

Jack joined me today to talk about the PGM, where it comes from, who it's for, and the two classes he has developed to guide people through working this magic, especially the second PGM class, which focuses on inner change and building your power.
Jack Grayle is a modern mystic and author who has dedicated his life to uncovering and sharing the transformative power of ancient magic. His journey led him to forge a profound connection with Hekate—a mysterious, liminal deity whose guidance not only transformed his own life but also inspired him to write The Hekataeon, a complete system of self-initiation into her mysteries. Today, Jack channels his experiences into teaching online courses at The Blackthorne School, where he helps others unlock the forgotten secrets of the Greek Magical Papyri (PGM) and re-enchant their everyday lives with meaning and magic.

Episode Overview:
In this episode, we delve into the mysteries of sensory perception and internal imagery. We question whether the mind continues to generate internal sensory experiences—even in aphantasia, where “imageless imagery” might still emerge (Chang et al., 2025). Our conversation examines how autism, with its sensory overload, may amplify external inputs to such an extent that inner experiences are overshadowed, prompting a discussion on whether practices like sensory deprivation, meditation, and brainwave stimulation (via binaural beats, isochronic tones, and SSVEP) can restore balance. We further explore the spectrum from aphantasia to hyperphantasia, considering possible correlations with heightened hypnotic responsiveness, and delve into techniques in memory work, hypnosis, psychedelics, lucid dreaming, and even polyphasic sleep cycles. Does aphantasia truly impact therapeutic change if our minds continuously craft imagery outside conscious awareness? Can minds learn how to visualise?

Dr Paulina Trevena is a hypnotherapist and a researcher, with 18 years’ experience in academic research. Paulina, who is neurodivergent with aphantasia and ADHD, specialises in supporting people with these conditions. During her hypnosis training, she realised having aphantasia was a barrier to experiencing hypnosis – and started a research project into aphantasia and hypnosis. Her mission is to raise awareness of aphantasia and promote best practices in working with clients with limited or no mental imagery. Paulina runs a personal development company called No Woo Woo!
These are just some of the questions we covered in a thought-provoking conversation with Dr Paulina Trevena:
How does having aphantasia impact experiences of hypnosis and meditation?
Why does this matter for hypnotherapists?
How does it impact memory?
What about (night) dreams?
What are the misconceptions within the hypnosis world around aphantasia?
How can we approach working with aphantasic clients?
Is there a cure for aphantasia?
What about the role of trauma in all of this?
A profound dive into all things aphantasia!
She'll cover many of these topics during her upcoming talk at the UK Hypnosis Convention!
Renaissance Hotel, London, her talk is on SATURDAY 15th @11.15 am.
If you're a hypnotherapist, come and join her there!

Bob is the first return guest. You can find his previous episode, way back at EP4 here to save yourself from having to look through the old ones to find it.
Bob Burns talks with Lance about the swan and its voice, evidenced-based hypnotherapy, fixing people, the wall, scripts, lucid dreaming, and so much more.
The swan is somewhere between a hypnotic process, a suggestibility test, a hypnotic phenomenon, an ideomotor response and just something else. It is a truly unique way to speak to the parts within the subconscious!

Lee is a hypnotherapist, NLPist, and for the main focus of this interview, an Animal Magnetist (or Mesmerist). There are very few of us out there that dive deep into this niche subject of energy and hypnosis.
Animal Magnetism is a healing art that is the precursor of hypnosis, founded by Anton Mesmer in the mid to late 1700s. Because Mesmer was working with an unseen energy, or magnetic fluid as he called it, he was discredited and deemed a charlatan. However, this art was explored by many and didn't disappear then due to its genuine power and efficiency. It has now been mostly replaced with verbal hypnosis, but the two are very different.
Enjoy our conversation about this healing art, and a presence-building exercise.
You can find out more about Lee and his work at the below links. I strongly encourage anyone in the UK to book in for his classes.
