This episode begins with the hijacker, Walter Reca, boarding the Boeing 727 and handing a hijacking note to the flight attendant, Flo Schafner. During this podcast we will rely almost exclusively on the 2008 taped conversation between Walter Reca, the hijacker, and Carl Laurin, his friend.Â
In this episode we explore why Walter Reca hijacking Northwest Flight 305 on November 24, 1971. We learn what he did in the days and months prior to the hijacking and the detailed planning he did in order to carry out the only unsolved hijacking in the history of aviation. Â
In the first episode, the story of the hijacking is told. Evidence is given that proves Walter R. Reca was the real D.B. Cooper. Included are actual audiotaped recordings of Walter Reca telling his best friend, Carl Laurin, that he is, in fact the actual hijacker. Walter also confessed to his niece, Lisa Story. Walter Reca also dictated a confession in 2014, during the last year of his life.Â
