The Hero's Mindset Ft. Paralympian Kevin Rempel

What does it mean to be a hero? This week on the podcast we answer that question. I'm thrilled to be joined by Canadian Paralympic sledge hockey athlete Kevin Rempel to discuss the mindset that has helped him overcome unthinkable odds. A living testament to the power of the mind and positive thinking, Kevin was once told he would never walk again following a motocross accident in his early 20s. Around the same time, Kevin also lost his father to suicide. During our conversation, Kevin reveals how he overcame suicidal ideation of his own and not only set himself on a more positive path but one that led to him regaining the ability to walk and representing Canada on the world's stage at the 2014 Sochi Paralympics. A beautiful introduction to The Hero's Mindset.

This Episode is Perfection(ism) Ft. Dr. Simon Sherry

For years of my life, I thought the standard was perfection. Everything I did, I felt I had to do perfectly. I craved to be the perfect son, boyfriend, student, and athlete, I wanted to be flawless and when a flaw presented itself I resented it. I thought perfection would lead to fulfillment. Sound familiar? Well, colour me fuc*ing pink when I one day woke up and came to the realization that PERFECTION ISN'T REAL and that the search for "perfect" had only ever left me in shambles. Perfectionism is one of the most misrepresented and misunderstood personality traits and goddamnit that stops today. Please help me welcome renowned psychologist and Perfectionism expert Dr. Simon Sherry for a truly perfect talk on perfectionism.

Not Today Death, Life with Chronic Illness Ft. Jeremie Saunders

Very cool episode this week. Today I sit down with a true one of one in the podcasting world, Jeremie Saunders from CBC's Sickboy podcast, to explore his experiences as a man living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. Jeremie shares how he learned of his diagnosis as a child and how it shaped his views on life after learning that he'd be unlikely to see his 35th birthday. He explores the nuances of living life faced with his mortality through the lens of mental health and provides an authentic look into the highs and lows associated with his disease and the subsequent release of a life-saving drug in Trikafta.

Is It All Just a Game?! Sex, Love and Relationships Part 2

Alas it was a very somber day in Halifax Nova Scotia, grey and gloomy. I sat in my expiring office chair the faux leather flaking onto the floor. I had just finished my interview with Booby Temps, a brilliant flourish of a man, the second hosts of Dating Games and my old friend. I had interviewed his cohost Stephanie Foster earlier in the week and now as I stared at the white "this Zoom has ended" screen, frozen in my mental wreckage trying to grapple with how I would edit this podcast I sat back, my chair's old bones creaking and I thought.....Wait a goddamn second is it really all just a GAME?!
