    #62 - The Pope's Exorcist

    The Pope’s Exorcist (2023)

Russell Crowe (IMDB) steps into the role of Father Gabriele Amorth, the real-life Vatican exorcist who took on over 100,000 cases of demonic possession. But in The Pope’s Exorcist (Letterboxd).

Russell Crowe is basically a bad ass holy-empowered action hero, cruising around Europe on a Vespa, cracking jokes, and battling demons.

We’re breaking down Crowe’s performance, the film’s wild exorcism sequences, and how it stacks up against classics like The Exorcist (IMDB) and The Conjuring (IMDB). Plus, we dive into the real-life history of Father Amorth, who co-founded the International Association of Exorcists and wrote books like An Exorcist Tells His Story (Goodreads).

Was this movie just Gladiator (IMDB) meets The Conjuring, or did it bring something fresh to the exorcism genre? And what’s up with that post-credits tease.

    The Vatican Exorcist Cinematic Universe?

Strap in, grab your crucifix, and join us for a deep dive into The Pope’s Exorcist.

    #61 – Mutant Chronicles

Thomas Jane headlines this mess of a film from 2008. Welcome to Mutant Chronicles, a film set on earth in the past kinda, but really it's in the future. It's on earth but a big evil rock flew into the earth that then unleashed some sort of machine that turns people into mutants for some reason?

Ron Perlman is also in this film as a sort of Brother dude, going through and reading from what can only be a magical book.

Then we have a ton of other actors like the always entertaining Devon Aoki playing her part of a sniper that for some reason pretty much only uses hand-to-hand combat. Surprised that she went to this after Fast and the Furious

Mutant Chronicles is based on a board game, it seems a lot like Warhammer at the start of the movie, and then when looking up its source that all started to make sense. The thing is, there's a lot of critical lore that is ignored and never told to people watching this movie for the first time. I can only imagine that they were planning for people to have played the game first if they were going to go to this movie?

    #60 – Virtual Comabt

    Episode Notes

Virtual combat staring Donny "The Dragon" Wilson is a movie about a grid of some kind and virtual reality. Nearly all the combat takes place in reality, basically nothing except for a short scene at the start is virtual so the name is a little misleading.

The movie has some decent martial arts, but apart from that it forgets to set up the world or what's going on at all. I fell asleep during it, I can't really recommend this movie as so bad it's good

    #59 – Speed 2: Cruise Control

    Episode Notes

Where's Keanu Reeves gone :'( Speed 1 is an epic film that's totally nuts and super silly but it's also an enjoyable fast passed action film staring Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. Sadly this is Speed 2 and instead of a Bus they have a slow moving ship. A ship you say, maybe they have sharks or something that's keeping them on? Nope, no sharks, no real reason not to just jump off the boat, nothing at stake and no one in this film wants to be in the film

    #58 – Malibu Express

    Malibu Express

Another Andy Sidaris film, this time with a whole heap more butts, boobs, pecs, and ass. It's an um-apologetically sleazy film that has many adult performers in it. It's still alright, but really is nothing compared to Hard Ticket to Hawaii.

Staring Sybil Danning, Darby Hinton, Lori Sutton, Lorraine Michaels, Lynda Wiesmeier

    #57 – Congo

This film has a talking Gorilla

You would think that a talking Gorilla would be the wackiest thing in the film but you would be wrong. Congo (1995) is like a bad Jurassic Park but with Gorillas. Ernie Hudson, Tim Curry, and Laura Linney really pull this movie together to make it very enjoyable although at times INSANE.

Congo will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time, asking yourself "How is this a movie?"

    #56 – Gigli

    Gigli - Gobble Gobble

This film sank the directors career. It's basically a Ben Affleck pining and crying over a Jennifer Lopez because she won't sleep with him, then magically because Ben Affleck has a dick Jennifer Lopez is no longer a lesbian...

This has to be one of the worst films we have seen, basically it's fairly offensive against basically everyone. This is one of the best reviews of it https://letterboxd.com/shaksper/film/gigli/ Love that it says it's offensive to Bulls and cows?

This film sort of feels like an attempt at Pulp Fiction, but it fails at every aspect of it.

#54 – Manos: The Hands of Fate

    TORGO WANT WOMAN TOO

Torgo is just a poor man trying to look out for his Master. Manos hands of fate is a classic bad movie, it has a lot of slow dull moments but can be enjoyable to watch with friends when heckling it.

    #53 – Waterworld

Waterworld a B Grade movie with an A grade budget

This movie is a wet mess. Kevin Costner tries his best to put the audience to sleep with his performance in waterworld, luckily the world and characters are just strange enough to be entertaining. Waterworld 1995 is a bad Mad Max ripoff, it's Mad Max if the world was covered in water and Mel Gibson was replaced by Kevin Costner

Should you watch it? Ethan - Yes, it's always entertaining even though it has some dull bits Jarrod - Yes, each action scene is unique, and it's got some interesting sets

    #52 – A view to a kill

    A view to a kill

The old Roger Moore seduces and has sex with multiple young women while going on an boring old person adventure though England, Paris, and San Francisco

Both of us have given this film a DON'T WATCH, since there's better James Bond films, and better so bad they're good films. This film just feels a little dead
