Dahlia parked her car and began to pull out what she'd need for the day.
"Hey Dahlia, need some help?" Dahlia looked up to see Adam, Kate and Jason heading her way.
"Actually, that would be great," Dahlia smiled, piling their outstretched arms with a few boxes and bags, while she pulled her small trolley with more things.
"I'm heading to the Home Ec. room," she said.
"Hey, Dahlia, I just, um, wanted to say thanks for the tutoring club you volunteer at after school on Tuesdays. I got my maths test, and I passed. I don't think I've ever gotten a pass before," Jason laughed.
"Oh, that's awesome! And you're welcome. I'm just glad I could help; I remember learning that in when I was in grade 10 and it was a lot," Dahlia smiled.
"Yeah, thanks for always helping; it does mean a lot to us," Kate agreed. She'd been tutored in English, and her grades had improved too.
"Aww, I'm so glad I love helping," she smiled.
"Have fun with the Grade 8's this afternoon. I think my brother Eli has a crush on you." Adam laughed. He and his friends headed off to class.
Dahlia shook her head, laughed and thanked them for their help in helping her carry everything.

The room was filled with grief. The widows cried. Everyone felt like their light had been snuffed out.
They washed her body with gentle hands and lavender-scented oil. Then they placed her upstairs in a quiet room.
But the believers were not ready to give up.
They heard that the apostle Peter was in a town not too far away—Lydda. Two men rushed there, dust in their eyes, sweat drying on their skin from running in the sun.
"Please," they begged. "Come quickly."

Nicodemus stepped through the narrow streets, his sandals brushing against the cool stones. The scent of burning wood drifted from nearby homes. His heart pounded faster with each step.
Finally, he reached the place where Jesus was staying. A soft light flickered inside — maybe from a small oil lamp. Nicodemus hesitated, then knocked lightly.
Jesus looked up as the door opened. His eyes, calm and kind, met Nicodemus's. It was as if He already knew why he had come.
"Rabbi," Nicodemus began, his voice trembling slightly, "we know that you are a teacher who has come from God. No one could perform the signs you are doing if God were not with him."
Jesus smiled gently. "Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again."
Nicodemus blinked. The words hit him like a rush of wind. Born again? His mind raced.
This week we dive into the story of Nicodemus' secret visit to see Jesus - you can find the story in your Bibles in John 3:1–21.
Nicodemus is mentioned in the Bible a few times - check the Bible references below.
- John 3:1-21: Nicodemus, a Pharisee and a ruler of the Jews, secretly meets with Jesus at night, leading to their famous conversation about the need to be born again to see the kingdom of God.
- John 7:50-51: Nicodemus interjects during a council meeting, reminding the other Pharisees that the law requires a person to be heard before being condemned, defending Jesus from their hasty judgment.
- John 19:39-42: After Jesus' crucifixion, Nicodemus joins Joseph of Arimathea to care for Jesus' body. He brings a large amount of myrrh and aloes for the anointing and burial, which is a public act of reverence.
