It's here. The best show of the year... the show about the best movies of the year... the show where Derick and I talk about our favorite films of the year. However you want to phrase it, it's finally arrived. For anyone that's never put together a show like this just know there are weeks, if not months, of prep involved. Then comes the actual recording of the show, which can have snaffu's and tech difficulty, but that's usually that's the easiest part. Then there's the post-production, which is a massive pain in the ass. This isn't a 'woe-is-me' statement, it's more to say that this project is and always has been a labor of much love, I very much look forward to doing it every year, and I hope y'all have as much fun listening to it. And, of course, much praise and gratitude must be given to my intrepid co-host Derick McDuff. He's an incredible friend, co-worker, and a thoughtful film aficionado, film buff... anything to not say the c-word. Check out all his stuff here. Also, I have to give a warm shoutout to former co-hosts Andy and Dion, who graciously recorded a clip describing their picks for best film of the year. And my Mom, Diane, as well for leaving a voicemail explaining her pick for film of the year. Overall, 2023 was one of my favorite years watching, discussing, and thinking about films, and I can't wait to see what 2024 brings.
