    143. Dealing with Rude Clients, Vendors, and Customers

In this episode we're going to be discussing how to handle situations when people are rude.

Kinda hard, and awkward am I right? Rude customers differ from unhappy ones when they choose not to control their anger. They are unreasonable, unfriendly, and prone to using verbal abuse, or other offensive language and threatening behavior. But you're in business to serve your customers, so it's important to try to help them. Let's take a minute to discuss how to best handle these situations with professionalism and grace.

    141. How to Write a "Winning" Event Proposal

In this episode we're going to cover event proposals and how to write ones that more clients will say "YES" to. An event proposal is a document created to win new business, detailing the fees an event manager/event management company will charge for services to produce an event. Event planners live and die by their event proposals, so if you aren't using them you are definitely leaving money on the table.

Here are the five major components to starting on a winning event proposal:

    1. Introduce yourself and the project.
    2. Write an attractive event description.
    3. List all services provided.
    4. Show your previous work.
    5. Incorporate monetary information throughout.

    140. How to Find New Event Clients

How to Start with Friends and Family

    1. Text everyone in your phone.
    2. Email everyone in your inbox with a personal message letting them know about your business.
    3. Post on your own Facebook page.
    4. Call close friends and let them know what you’re up to.
    5. Invite a group of friends to coffee and ask them to share your story. (If you trust this group of friends you can ask them for feedback on what you’re doing. If you do not trust their business sense then do not let their opinions change your passion for planning.)
    6. Give business cards to your friends that they can pass out.
    7. Offer to do a free event for your friends and family in exchange for a Yelp review, photo shoot and testimonial.
    8. Ask friends to share your website on their Facebook page.

You can also tell former bosses, past business acquaintances and former co-workers. There are ways to communicate these messages to them without being overly salesy. Trust me when I say they all want to hear about your new adventure. Once you reach out to your inner circle, you can launch a social media outreach campaign.

How to Get Clients through Social Media

    1. Post images of your events or other beautiful events you like on Instagram.
    2. Follow and connect with similar people on Instagram.
    3. Join Twitter and use the “advanced search” function to find brides-to-be, corporate clients, venues, vendors, etc and begin following and interacting with them.
    4. Join local community groups on Facebook and start adding value to the groups by posting your knowledge. They will quickly view you as an expert and reach out to you.
    5. Post your knowledge on your Facebook page. You can also run contests to give away a free event.
    6. Partner with local restaurants or venues to post content on their Facebook pages (great idea!).
    7. Get a past client, family or friend to do a short Youtube video review of your work.

Social media works but it takes a little time. You have to create a strategy (use the one I just wrote above) and execute on it every single day. Just do one small thing on social media once per day. We call this “planing your seed”, and in a few months the seeds you plant in the social media world will grow to be large, beautiful, healthy trees. When you begin marketing on social media make sure you choose the same Company name on every platform (same name on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Youtube).

How to Get Clients on Review Sites

The next place to get clients is on review sites. Yelp, Thumbtack and Craigslist are some of the best places to get new clients but the key is to have 10 or more reviews.

What a YEAR!?! The 2020 Year In Review Episode is all about the highs and lows (and there were some low, lows) last year. But the good news is that it wasn't all bad.

Through all of the chaos, a global pandemic, your industry becoming known for "super spreading", and so much more... there was still a lot of good and growth that came from 2020. Paynton and I hope you like listening to this conversation and that you're able to reflect on your past year with lessons learned and BIG goals for 2021.

Some tips for choosing the right subject include:

    • Choosing a focused and niche topic rather than a broad one. Having a broad topic usually means more competition. The more focused your niche, the easier it is to convey expertise.
    • Having expert-level knowledge. Keep in mind, being an expert on a topic might mean you have better-than-average knowledge. You don’t have to be a genius or have traditional credentials.
    • Knowing who your audience is, what their problems are, and how you can teach them to solve those problems.

    Lights, camera, action!

Now that you picked a subject and have all the right gear, it’s time to shoot some video!

Place the green screen on the wall behind you. Make sure you pull the green screen taut so that there are no wrinkles or sagging as that can show up in the videos when you edit the background.

Then set up the camera on a tripod in front of you and place the lights behind the camera. Once you have your little mini-studio set-up it’s time to record.

Do a test recording first to make sure that you look and sound good. If you see any sort of shadow on your face or body, adjust the lights accordingly to eliminate it. Article Source
