    Max Landis (update)
This month's episode is an update and replay on Max Landis. It was announced this week that Paramount has hired Landis, a known rapist and physical and psychological abuser, to write a script for a new "G.I. Joe "movie. David Ellison, who owns Paramount, is a creep, and Max Landis is a creep.

Host Sonia Mansfield talks about the most recent news, and then she turns the rest of the episode over to herself and the late, great, lovely, and amazing Margo Donohue way back in 2020.

    Season 31, Episode 4
    Artie Shaw

The lovely and fantastic Simone O. Elias, author of “Old Films, Young Eyes: A Teenage Take on Hollywood's Golden Age,” joins host Sonia Mansfield to talk about Artie Shaw.

Artie Shaw played the jazz clarinet and was a big-band leader who reigned supreme as one of the kings of swing with his recordings of "Begin the Beguine," "Lady Be Good," and "Star Dust" in the late 1930s and 40s. He was also an abusive husband, who was married 8 times, ANNNND, he dropped some names at the House of Un-American Activities in the 1950s. What a creep.

    Dick Cheney
    What a Creep
    Season 31, episode 3

Host Sonia Mansfield and Erin Lim from Bitch Talk Podcast talk about Dick Cheney.

The former VP rebranded “torture” as “enhanced interrogation” and argued that if the president does something, then it’s legal. Gee, that’s sounds familiar. He pushed our country into a war that killed a lot of civilians and U.S. servicemembers. Oh, and he personally profited from it.

Dick got a redemption arc from the media and society after he announced he would vote for Kamala Harris rather than Predator Trump in the 2024 election. Well, too little, too late. What a creep.

Bill Gothard, founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles
    What a Creep
    Season 31, Episode 2
Bill Gothard, founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles

Kristen Meinzer from The Nighty on Hatch Plus and Health Matters from the Mayo Clinic joins Sonia Mansfield to talk about creep Bill Gothard, a minister, writer, and the founder of the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP). The IBLP is a fundamentalist Christian organization that encourages the submission of wives to husbands, procreative sex, the corporal punishment of children, homeschooling, and biblical literalism. Those who’ve escaped it say it goes much further, enlisting coercion, mind control, isolation, sexual abuse, and financial manipulation against its adherents.

Marge Schott was the owner of the Cincinnati Reds from 1984 to 1999. When she first started, she seemed like a good fit. But it wasn’t long before she revealed herself to be a racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, and Nazi-sympathizing creep.

The Murder of Kirsten Costas "Death of a Cheerleader"
     What a Creep
    Season 30, Episode 3
    The Murder of Kirsten Costas
(The Inspiration for the 1994 TV  Movie Death of a Cheerleader)

In the idyllic suburb of Orinda, California, the summer of 1984 was marked by the shocking murder of 15-year-old Kirsten Costas. A popular high school student, Kirsten, was killed by her classmate Bernadette Protti from Miramonte High School. Motivated by jealousy and social pressure, the crime revealed the darker aspects of affluent adolescent life.

The murder went unsolved for months, and when the killer was finally found, it shocked the community. I contend that this case was one of the first crimes to highlight the insecurities of Generation X. The incident inspired the made-for-TV film "A Friend to Die For" (1994), later retitled "Death of a Cheerleader." Starring Kellie Martin and Tori Spelling, the movie explored themes of peer pressure, envy, and the price of popularity, giving the case a haunting cultural resonance that still lingers today.
