BTL: Laurent Delaunay vs Pinot Noir

Join me for the first episode of Behind the Label, a new format where I sit down with leading wine personalities for a blind tasting and an open conversation.

In this episode, I welcome Laurent Delaunay from Maison Edouard Delaunay, a historic Burgundy house founded in 1893 and revived in 2017 by Laurent himself, fifth-generation winemaker. From its cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the Maison crafts precise, terroir-driven wines through small-scale vinification, careful parcel selection, and a philosophy of minimal intervention, reaffirming its place among Burgundy’s leading estates.

Together, we blind-taste three Pinot Noirs and explore how each expresses its origin. We also discuss Laurent’s presence in Hong Kong for the Bonhams wine auction, his role as president of the Burgundy Wine Committee (formerly the BIVB), his vision for the future of the Hautes-Côtes, and the dynamics of working alongside his daughter at the domaine.

If you enjoy this format, don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe. Cheers!
