With The Perrys is a podcast with a whole lot of truth given in a short amount of time. Preston Perry and Jackie Hill Perry will bring their humor, honesty, and insight into conversations on everything from relationships and theology to politics, race, and parenting.
We’ve got a special conversation to wrap up the year before a holiday break. The Perrys are joined by their friend and Gospel-music artist CeCe Winans. CeCe shares how meeting the Lord at a young age shaped both her music and her priorities in life. The love of God has always been her motivator and she strives to please Him in all she does.
From the fear of the Lord helping her navigate the music industry to choosing home and church over public calling, CeCe reflects on what has kept her grounded, She says, “I don’t worship what I do. I worship who He is.” CeCe’s challenge to listeners is to stay consistent in the things that matter, because you honor God, He’ll honor you.

We all have “love issues.” John 13:35 says that love is to be our identifying mark as Christians – not our wisdom or spiritual gifts or activity – but being a loving person is difficult.
Jada Edwards has a new book out called A New Way to Love Your Neighbor that she wrote out of a season where she struggled to love well. The Lord revealed to her that she couldn’t be the originator of grace for other people. She needed God to reveal His love for her specifically, continually, so she’d be filled up with love to give.
Jada and the Perrys explore the definition of agape love in which the person initiating the love determines the value of the one they love. They talk about how Biblical love for others almost always requires decision – deciding to love – instead of affection. And ultimately, love needs wisdom to be effective. We need to slow down, pray, and ask Holy Spirit to guide us in how to love.

Before they were podcasters, the Perrys did spoken-word poetry, and this week’s guest had a profound impact on them as one of the first “viral” Christian poets online.
Blair (Wingo) Linne joins Jackie and Preston to talk about her new book, Made to Tremble: How Anxiety Became the Best Thing That Ever Happened to My Faith. Blair discusses how past traumas – including the sudden death of her infant brother and a car accident that totaled their family vehicle – shaped her present anxiety and how that anxiety drove her even closer to the Lord. She explains how all of Scripture points to peace as a person – God is our peace, which means that peace is not a result of our circumstances. Blair’s encouragement is to find the Lord and trust that He’s going to be with you, even if He has you trembling for the rest of your life.

The Perrys are joined by Yana Conner, a writer and theologian passionate about understanding the character of God. Her new book, Living Beyond Offense, digs into the idea that forgiveness is at the heart of our faith. Why’s that? Because every time we forgive, we put the gospel on display.
Yana shares honestly about writing this book while wrestling with her own relationships. She talks about how “turning the other cheek” is meant to restore and not enable, why God calls us to be “shalom makers,” and how forgiveness is less about forgiving yourself but about living forgiven.

Lean into part two of the Perrys’ conversation with Melody and CD Fabien for even more real talk on dating discipleship. They unpack what healthy boundaries look like – whether you’re dating later in life or after a previous marriage – and share why they believe couples should enjoy long dating seasons and short engagements. CD challenges men to consider what true, Christ-like leadership looks like in dating, with the reminder that Scripture calls both husbands and wives to “submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.” The Fabiens also acknowledge that godly dating often involves discernment and sometimes grief-filled obedience, yet they encourage singles that even in those hard moments, peace can be found in the pain.

Melody and C.D. Fabien made headlines for waiting to kiss until marriage. Now more than a decade later, they're doing "dating discipleship" work with couples who feel confused about the in between, wanting to date intentionally before getting engaged.
In this conversation with the Perrys, the Fabiens discuss what it means to date with godly wisdom, lead with integrity, and pursue purity that lasts beyond the wedding day. Melody and C.D. say that obedience is inconvenient but it's always worth it. They make a case for why living together before marriage is actually spoken against in the Bible, and they offer encouragement around boundaries, conviction, repentance and community.
This is just part one of the conversation. Listen in and then come back next week to hear the rest.

Tye Tribbett is a Grammy Award-winning gospel artist who infuses his songs with scripture, teaching listeners about God as he sings. In 1996 he created “Greater Anointing,” a choir of his family and friends, and ever since, he’s been writing Jesus-focused music to start conversations, not condemn.
Tye talks with the Perrys about humility, ambition, and what it means to stay kingdom-focused in an industry obsessed with viral success. They unpack the challenges of today’s gospel music scene – from sensationalism to the pressure to perform – and the importance of slowing down for ministry moments and walking closely with God.

Even thinking about engaging in a conversation with kids about sexuality can feel scary, but Laurie and Matt Krieg have a heart to help parents approach the topic without fear.
The Kriegs join Jackie and Preston to discuss moving beyond the shame-filled messages of purity culture – what was a “theology of no” – instead to a theology of goodness and flourishing. They talk about being your child’s “anchoring bias” – the first voice a child hears on these topics – and why it’s so important to respond like Jesus when your child is exposed to something online or confesses.
Laurie and Matt also share about a new video series called “Raising Kids,” created with other thought leaders including Jon Tyson, John Mark Comer, Preston Sprinkle, and the Perrys, among many others. This 8-part video series is designed for parents of kids 12 and under, covering topics such as porn prevention, body safety, gender, and belonging. https://courses.christian-sexuality.com/courses/raising-kids

Dallas and Amanda Jenkins, creators of The Chosen, join the Perrys to talk about how God used one movie’s box-office failure to bring about the now globally popular television series about the life of Jesus.
The Jenkins talk about bringing their “five loaves and two fish” to God, letting Him handle the multiplication, and creating from a place of dependence rather than success. They discuss what it looks like to lead with authenticity, use “sanctified imagination” while staying true to Scripture, and keep their focus on honoring the character of Jesus. The conversation also covers how they handle criticism of their handling of Scripture and how they view The Chosen as both creative work and ministry.

Every one of us will, at some point in our lives, come to realize that our faith alone can’t produce everything we want, when we want it. It’s hard to trust the Lord when we’re praying prayers that haven’t been answered.
Jennifer Lucy Tyler joins the Perrys to talk about what she’s learned about God’s sovereignty through her journey of infertility. She shares about experiencing the joy of the Lord – even when He’s not given you the thing you desperately want – and why through our lament, we can still have hope that what He has for us is good.

Social media has been a contentious place after the murder of Charlie Kirk, and the public mourning of his death has felt confusing and concerning for many people. How should we as Christ followers respond in such a polarizing time?
In this honest conversation, Jackie and Preston sit down with Justin Giboney, cofounder and president of the AND Campaign, to process through what happens in our hearts – and in the church – when tragedy plays out in the public square.
Why do we turn to social media to have our feelings validated? Are we experiencing a true gospel revival or a reawakening of ideological conservatism? And how can we move out of this culture war to have constructive and edifying conversations, not as members of one political party or another but as Christ followers?
