The New York Mets battled back to tie this game, but they let a bunch of chances go by and they lost to the Chicago Cubs in extras, 4-3. 

With the loss, the Mets see their losing streak grow to six games and lost EVERY game of the season series against the Cubs. 

Missed chances are the story of this one. 14 men left on base and just 2-for-12 with RISP. 

Freddy Peralta bounced back and was much better, but was let down by his defense in the 6th inning, allowing the Cubs to jump out to a 3-0 lead. 

It's not the response the Mets were looking for after the embarrassing display in the doubleheader yesterday, and now they have to welcome in a red-hot Philadelphia Phillies team.

The New York Mets completely embarrassed themselves and got swept in a doubleheader against the Chicago Cubs. 

Game 1 looked like it was going to be different with Nolan McLean looking good early and the Mets actually jumping out to a lead. But, McLean made two mistakes and the game flipped on it's head.

Game 2 was just a complete mess. As a team, the Mets had more ERRORS than runs. They hit four home runs, but still lost the game. 

Definitely a day to forget for the Mets, as they've now lost five games in a row and are in danger of getting swept in a four game series.

It's the same story, different day right now for the New York Mets with a lot of the same characters. Kodai Senga struggled again, as they dropped the opener to the Chicago Cubs 9-6. 

Well, baseball can be a cruel game sometimes. That first inning from Kodai Senga, a 1-2-3 inning that saw his fastball top out at 99mph gave hope that he had found something. Unfortunately, it was short-lived as he allowed 5 runs in the second inning to sink the Mets early once again. 

The Mets have been outscored 30-11 over the course of their recent three-game losing streak and their starting pitching hasn''t really given them a chance in any of the three games.
