An early lead. Out hitting the Chicago Cubs. None of it mattered as the New York Mets have now lost TEN games in a row. 

Mark Vientos got the Mets out to a 1-0 lead early with a solo home run, although the lead was short lived as Ian Happ got Freddy Peralta for a homer of his own to tie the game. 

Peralta and Cubs starter Jameson Taillon settled in after that and traded zeros. That was until the 6th inning where a pair of two-out walks knocked Peralta out of the game. Brooks Raley came in and faced pinch hitter Carson Kelly. One pitch later and the Cubs had a 4-1 lead. 

The Mets had a chance in the 8th, as they got the first two men on to start the inning but were only able to produce one run out of the opportunity. 

Their 7-14 start is tied for third worst in franchise history and they'll have to win tomorrow to avoid matching the 11 game losing streak from 2004.

It's a broken record at this point, as the New York Mets offense remained absent and they lost their eighth consecutive game. 

The offense is the main character of the Mets struggles right now, scoring just three runs in the three game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Tonight, the Mets 1 through 4 hitters were held to just one hit. 

Clay Holmes did enough to keep the Mets in the game over his five innings of work, but any deficit the Mets face at the moment feels like attempting to climb Mt. Everest.

 It will be a much needed off day for the club, before they start up a weekend series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

It was a pitcher's duel that lived up to the hype, but the New York Mets ended up on the wrong side as they've now lost their seventh in a row.

Nolan McLean was brilliant, allowing just one run over seven innings and matching Los Angeles Dodgers starter Yoshinobu Yamamoto zero for zero. 

But in the 8th inning, after a lead off walk, Brooks Raley gave up the go-ahead RBI single to Kyle Tucker and the Mets offense couldn't respond. 

For a brief moment, it look liked tonight was going to be different. Francisco Lindor led off the game with a home run, yet that was the only thing the Mets could muster. 

They will attempt to avoid back to back sweeps and their 8th straight loss, with Clay Holmes on the bump.

Different stadium, same result for the New York Mets. The bats remained cold and David Peterson struggled as they fell to the Dodgers, 4-0. 

For the third time in their last four games, the Mets were shutout and they didn't have any answers for Dodgers start Justin Wrobleski who threw EIGHT scoreless innings on just 90 pitches. 

David Peterson started for the Mets, and it looked like it was going to be off the rails from the jump as he loaded the bases in the first. He was able to limit the damage to just one but the Dodgers got him for three courtesy of a Andy Pages three-run home run.

And that was all that was needed. The Mets mustered just three hits and the Dodgers faced one over the minimum in this one.

It'll be a pitcher's duel on paper tomorrow with Nolan McLean going up against Yoshinobu Yamamoto, as the Mets will try and snnap their six game losing streak.
