Dorothy is teaching an honors class for the semester. She starts off excited but quickly becomes depressed. Blanche uses Aurora (her granddaughter) to get a date/boyfriend. When her daughter Rebecca finds out it ends badly.

Blanche has a date get cancelled on her. She's not happy. She calsl her back up Mel Bushman but he doesn't answer? Where could he be? A freaked out Blanche goes to his home. Then once he arrives she wants a full blown relationship and he is overwhelmed. Meanwhile, Rose tries out for a reporter spot. She gets the story she was assigned but she misses a bigger one.

Dorothy gets a fake job for Sophia as Activties Director at a rest home to try and get to her recover from the flu. It backfires and Sophia along with all the residents go missing.

A poetry reading at Miles comes to an abrupt end when the death of mobster The Cheesman is announced on a news broadcast. Later, Miles breaks the news he's been in witness protection hiding from that mobster. Meanwhile, Sophia is upset at her friend Gladys over a concert. Blanche tries to return a dress she wore but they won't take it back. Miles learns that the Cheesman is not dead and has to be relocated.

Clayton comes to visit but he brings a surprise. His boyfriend Doug, who he plans to marry. Blanche does not take this news well at all. He behavior becomes embarassing. Rose is nominated for an award and goes into full on competitive mode.
