Join me Liliane Rebecca on Perfectly Sickled as I talk about my take on (adult-ish) life as a twenty something living with Sickle Cell and provide you with information on updated laws and education related to Sickle Cell. Why "Perfectly Sickled"? Because God Crafted me perfectly as he saw fit... Sickle Cell and all.
On this week's episode we're discussing Education and sickle cell. I didn't always have the best game plan in school to let professors know about my condition. To me it felt like I was using my condition as an excuse and that was shameful so I didn't always tell them and it worked out for me--until it didn't and I had to jump through hoops to get a grade changed. I want you to learn from my mistakes. In this episode I share my love for my alma mater N.C. A&T, briefly explain why HBCUs were created, and share a few tips on how to be proactive by letting professors know early of any medical conditions.
I know, I know, It has been a MINUTE!! However, I am back and ready for the many conversations to come ! Lets start with this topic: "Persons with sickle cell should not travel." I disagree 100 percent because my love language is travel. If you want to travel, travel because persons with Sickle Cell can and do absolutely travel. I am living proof. Sometimes others project the fears that they have onto your life. Do not invite such fear and doubt do what you want !
