Overweight & Not Enough Seat 511

In this episode of Brett's ManCave, I get real about the dangers of letting family problems, personal health, and everyday stress pile up until you feel like you're carrying the weight of the world—literally and figuratively. I talk about how stress can affect your health, your mindset, and your overall life, while taking a brutally honest look at my own struggles with being overweight.

And because apparently talking about health wasn't uncomfortable enough, I take you on a trip down memory lane to my Disneyland horror stories, where the happiest place on Earth became a terrifying battle against amusement-park seats. From struggling to fit on rides to wondering if I was about to become the attraction, I share the embarrassing, hilarious, and painfully real moments that made me realize it was time to take a serious look at myself.

This episode is about stress, family, health, self-awareness, and learning to laugh at yourself while facing some hard truths. Sometimes the biggest wake-up call comes when you're sitting in a Disneyland ride trying to figure out whether the ride is going to start—or whether you're going to have to be rescued first.

"Obsession" Therapy, Love or Romance? 510 - Cathrine "Zombie Cat"

This week on Brett's Mancave, I'm joined by the one and only Cat the Ski Mask Momma, and things go off the rails almost immediately.

We're diving headfirst into Obsession, where we spend way too much time arguing over who the real villain is. Is it the obvious choice? The terrible friends? Bad decisions? Or is common sense the biggest victim in the entire movie? Nothing—and no one—is safe from our hot takes.

We break down the film scene by scene, roast the characters for making choices that would have any sane person yelling at the TV, and call out the emotional damage, manipulation, and relationship chaos that feels a little too familiar. Somewhere between the laughs and the arguments, we get into a real conversation about how romance and love aren't the same thing—and why confusing the two can turn your life into a movie nobody asked to star in.

Cat and I don't hold back. We challenge each other's opinions, throw plenty of playful jabs, and somehow manage to solve absolutely nothing...except proving that communication beats obsession every time.

So if you enjoy movie reviews with zero chill, sarcastic commentary, relationship debates, and enough laughs to make you forget you're listening to a psychological thriller, this episode of Brett's Mancave has your name written all over it.

Press play, pick a side, and remember: if your relationship starts looking like Obsession, it might be time to leave before the end credits roll.

    White Adventures 509

This week on Brett's Mancave, we're talking about one of America's favorite hobbies: white adventures.

It all starts with the story of a man who got launched by a bison in a national park. Every year they put up signs that say, "Stay away from the wildlife," and every year somebody decides they're about to become best friends with a 2,000-pound animal.

That story reminded me of every time I've let my white friends talk me into doing something that starts with, "Trust me... it'll be fun."

Like the time they convinced me to do water sports on the Kern River—the same river that's known as one of the deadliest rivers in California. Somehow they heard "people die here every year" and thought, "Sounds like a great weekend!" I was just trying to survive long enough to make it back to the parking lot.

And if that wasn't enough, there was the speedboat trip. Somewhere between "Hold on!" and "This is awesome!" I got launched, lost my pants, and almost lost my life. Nothing humbles a grown man faster than almost becoming a news headline while floating in the water in his underwear.

At this point I've realized my white friends hear danger as an invitation. They see warning signs as a challenge. If the brochure says "Extreme," they're already packing. If it says, "High risk of injury," they're asking if there's a group discount.

Me? Every time I agree to one of these adventures, I end up wondering if this is how my obituary starts. I've survived the Kern River, survived getting thrown off a speedboat, and now every invitation gets one question: "Can I die doing this?" If the answer isn't an immediate "No," I'm staying home.

So this episode is about white adventures, my terrible decision to keep saying yes to them, and why every near-death experience reminds me that maybe I'm just too Black for this kind of excitement. I'll support the adventure... from a safe distance, preferably somewhere with air conditioning and solid Wi-Fi.

    Red, White & WTF 508

This episode of Brett's ManCave kicks off by celebrating America's 250th birthday—a tribute to the freedoms, opportunities, resilience, and spirit that make this nation one of a kind. We take a moment to appreciate what makes America great before taking a sharp turn into the chaos that somehow always finds its way into my life.

From there, we dive into the strange cast of characters I somehow call friends and the hilariously awkward situations they manage to drag me into. Along the way, I share unbelievable stories about one anonymous friend we'll simply call "Zombie D." His legendary antics are so outrageous that he's been known to make escorts question their career choices—and maybe even their life decisions. If you enjoy wild stories, questionable judgment, and laughing at the absurdity of real life, this is an episode you won't want to miss.

Bad Kids & Worse Wedding Guests 507

This week, we're talking about kids making absolutely terrible decisions, including the wild story of the kid who fell off Tiana's log ride at Disney, which naturally sparks the debate around the phrase, "fuck them kids." Then we recap all the chaos of attending a wedding from actually forgetting your wedding suit, getting into a passive-aggressive argument with the valet (which is "CRAZY"), questioning whether the DJ had some... questionable, possibly racist taste in music, and how one of us may or may not have given the bride-to-be's mom a lap dance. We also raise a special toast to the happy bride and groom before diving into ancestry, embracing your roots, and the hilarious (and highly questionable) mission of trying to convince a friend to embrace her Black side... even if it means attempting to get her to say the N-word. It's an episode packed with unfiltered conversations, outrageous stories, questionable decisions, and plenty of laughs.

Bad Luck, Big Theories & Smarter Money Moves 506

In this episode of Brett's Man Cave, I open up about my ongoing bad luck with cars. It feels like every time I start getting ahead financially, my car decides it's the perfect moment to fall apart or get damaged again. I lean into the sarcasm pretty hard, turning it into a running bit about whether my vehicle is cursed or just has terrible timing when it comes to my wallet.

From there, I shift into a movie review of the internet-obsessed thriller Obsession. I talk about why people are so hooked on it and break down what makes it stick with viewers—especially the tension, the characters, and how messy everything gets morally. I also dig into some of the fan theories floating around online, from psychological manipulation interpretations to deeper hidden meanings people think are buried in the story. I share my own take on what might actually be going on and why the movie has people overanalyzing it so much.

Then I wrap things up with something more practical: money and investing for the future. I go over simple, realistic ways to build wealth over time—like consistent investing, thinking long-term instead of chasing quick wins, and setting up things that can benefit not just me, but my future kids as well. It's less about hype and more about building stability slowly and intentionally.

Fathers Who Leave vs. Fathers Who Hurt 505

In this summer episode of Brett's Mancave, I celebrate my daughter turning 4 years old and take a moment to reflect on what being a father really means to me. I give her the love and praise she deserves while also getting into a deeper conversation inspired by the new Michael movie (spoiler alert included).

I break down the difference between dads who aren't there at all and fathers like Joe Jackson—who were present but abusive, pushing their kids to succeed at the cost of their well-being.

This episode is me being real about the kind of father I choose to be: present, supportive, and someone who builds up instead of breaking down. It's about learning from both sides and making sure I raise my daughter with love, not fear.

    Entering My Villain Era 504

This week on Brett's Mancave, we're stepping into a whole new mindset — the villain era. Not the evil kind… the "I'm done taking nonsense" kind. I break down how my zodiac sign supposedly predicts this shift, but let's be real — it's really about leveling up, setting boundaries, and not letting work, bosses, or anybody else play with your time or energy.

We also get into the reality check of getting older as a Millennial. Things hit different now — priorities change, patience gets shorter, and you start thinking about the future in ways you didn't before. That leads us into a wild but real conversation about retirement homes… what happens when you get there, what freedoms you might lose (yeah, even your drinking privileges), and the fantasies people have versus the reality — spoiler alert: those twerking nurses aren't part of the package.

And of course, we couldn't wrap it up without showing respect to an American legend — Chuck Norris. We throw the deuces up and dive into some of the funniest myths and over-the-top stories that made him a cultural icon.

It's a mix of humor, truth, and a little bit of rebellion — just how Brett's Mancave likes it.

Frenemies of the Fright 503 - Chris Alderete

This week in Brett's Man Cave, I was joined by my friend, co-worker, and fellow chainsaw maniac, Chris Alderete. We dove into our shared passion for the scaring business and how it's turned us into playful frenemies — especially when it comes to whose portraits and signatures end up on the infamous "Murder Wall" of art. From friendly competition to inside jokes, it's a rivalry built on mutual respect, love for the craft, and a little bit of bragging rights.

We also swapped war stories from our time working at Horror Nights, comparing the bumps, bruises, and battle scars we've collected over the years. From near-misses with overexcited guests to the unforgettable nights spent bringing iconic horror characters to life, we relived the chaos, laughter, and adrenaline that keeps us coming back every season. It was a conversation equal parts spooky, hilarious, and full of respect for the art of the scare.

    Memoriam 502

This week in Brett's Man Cave, we paused for something deeper — a heartfelt memorial to those we've lost. Whether they were family, friends, icons, or personal heroes, we honored their memories with respect, stories, and a moment of silence that said more than words ever could. It was about grief, yes — but also gratitude. Because every name we spoke carried a legacy.

Then the conversation took a turn toward two larger-than-life figures: Ozzy Osbourne and Hulk Hogan — men who rose to iconic status but faced very human struggles along the way.

We unpacked Ozzy's battle with addiction, his health issues, and how the rock legend reinvented himself again and again. Behind the "Prince of Darkness" persona is a man who's fought through demons many of us know too well — pain, loss, and trying to keep going when the spotlight fades.

But it was Hulk Hogan who stirred the deepest debate.

We revisited the golden days of Hulkamania — the red-and-yellow icon who told us to train hard, say our prayers, and believe in ourselves. But we also had to confront the darker parts of his legacy. His involvement in scandals — especially the leaked recordings that revealed racist comments — became a dividing line for fans and critics alike. Some saw it as an unforgivable stain, others viewed it as a tragic flaw in an otherwise impactful career. Some mourned the man who defined their childhoods, while others questioned the depth of that grief, pointing to the damage his words caused. The room wasn't united — and maybe that's the point. Legacies are complicated. Heroes are flawed. And sometimes, honoring the dead means wrestling with the truth about who they really were.

This week was heavy, but real. And in Brett's Man Cave, that's exactly how we keep it — real talk, real emotion, and room for every side of the story.

Father's Day Confessions 501 - Isreal and Josue

In this special and slightly chaotic Father's Day episode of Brett's Mancave, I sits down with fellow dads Josue and Israel to swap stories, laughs, and a few mild parenting confessions. We dive into the differences between raising one kid versus a whole squad, and the joys and occasional confusion of being "girl dads" vs "boy dads." From the things we swore we'd never do as parents—only to now do regularly—to the awkward art of having "the talk" without passing out, this episode is a hilarious, as well as a heartfelt look into how our own childhoods shaped the dads we are today. Spoiler: nobody's got it all figured out, and that's kind of the point.
