Julie Nitz, mom of eleven, freebirther, Proverbs 31 woman, and traditional birth keeper chats about autonomous pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and crunchy mom life. As a freebirther and traditional birth keeper, her goal is to provide rich but practical information and thoughts surrounding all things birth, encourage families to take responsibility and feel powerful in their birthing choices. This podcast is for anyone who values autonomy in birth no matter where or with whom (or not) you birth. This podcast is not intended as medical advice. Birth is not a medical event, it’s a sacred journey.

In this short and sweet intro to my next series I talk about attending my very first First Moon Party! Have you ever been to one? Or thrown one for your daughter?! I thought I'd be the first one in my circle to have the honor, but surprise surprise! If you don't know what in the world I'm talking about it's a quick and fun listen. Here's some links I said I'd include. And stay tuned for my related series called The Cyclical Nature of Women!

Set aside about 20 minutes and find a comfy place to relax as you envision your birth. Enjoy!
In today's episode I tell the stories of my two postpartum hemorrhages I experienced during my freebirths. I answer the questions; what is a hemorrhage, why does it happen, and what can I do about it. There's lots of practical info as well as my own personal anecdotes and philosophy thrown in there. In no way should any of this be considered medical advice. I am not a medical professional.
Today's chat is a smorgasbord of fun and enriching information. Chana may birth baby F before our next episode! I can't wait to hear all about it!
This episode finishes up our Sacred Fourth Trimester Series. Enjoy!
Today I go into detail about the first two categories of postpartum recovery; Retreat and Warmth/Nourishing Food. You'll find lots of ideas and inspiration in this episode for planning both a practical and sacred experience.
Chana and I chat about what changes she's experienced since the last time as well as her struggles with not feeling much movement yet.
Today I’ll be talking about the fourth trimester, the first 3 months after birth where you and your baby make the transition from life on the inside with baby to life on the outside with baby. For many Americans life pretty much goes back to pre-pregnancy state, or at least that seems to be the typical goal, but for many women around the world the transition is much more sacred and filled with grace. We’ll learn what some other cultures do and why as well as some practical tips that embrace this sacred approach.

In this episode I chat with one of my besties about her sixth pregnancy. First we get to know how cool she is and a little about her birth history.
She's about 13 weeks, so we discuss first trimester stuff like morning sickness, fatigue, and a tiny bit about diet. We learn how Chana tunes into her baby and uses a low tech approach like listening to her baby with a fetoscope. I'll post a link below if you want to buy your own.
Lastly, we talk about how her faith gives her the motivation and strength to grow, birth, nurture, and disciple six children.
