Use This Unfair Advantage for Stress-Free Christian Finances ft. Bob Lotich

Money is such a contentious issue. In the world at large, but specifically within the Christian community.

The love of money is the root of all evil...but does that mean making money is wrong?

Do I really need to tithe 10%?

Is budgeting a lack of trust in God?

There's a million questions that end up becoming quite theological, and it can be tough to find God's peace in the whole conversation.

That's why we brought on Bob Lotich, from Seed Time, to give us an overview from his experience and perspective as a Christian financial expert, on how families can think about money from a Christian perspective and not get totally overwhelmed in the process.

On this episode, we talk about:

    0:00 Intro

1:23 How does a Christian family approach finances differently?

3:37 Avoiding the financial and spiritual ditches

    9:39 God-first finances

    19:01 Income and Expenses Imbalance

24:31 The biblical tension with wealth

    31:04 Real Money Math Budgeting

The Destruction of The Multigenerational Family

Humans are meant to live in a large, rooted, multigenerational family.

The modern world has destroyed that.

Here are the 3 things I think have most led to the destruction, and 3 solutions I think can help you escape from the trap of the nuclear family. Thank God, we've been able to build a strong, multigenerational family over the past 30 years, and these are not just hypotheses, but things that actually work for us and the families we mentor.

On this episode, we talk about:

    0:00 Intro

0:16 Why is Family So Broken?

1:43 The Largest Variable That Destroyed The Multigenerational Family?

5:32 The Second Big Factor (Revolution)

    6:38 The Third Variable

    9:34 Solution 1: Homeland

    11:22 Solution 2: Assets

    13:52 Solution 3: Government

Viral Youtuber "Dad, How Do I?" On Being A Dad and Sharing The Gospel After Negative Backlash ft. Rob Kenney

Rob Kenney is best known as the man behind the viral Youtube account, "Dad, How Do I?"

He shares videos explaining things that dads ought to have taught their kids...

How to tie a tie, how to change a tire, how to make good food, etc.

And he hit a nerve when he burst onto the scene in 2020, tapping into the father-hunger unconsciously felt by many young people today.

But there's more to him than just fixing stuff.

He's a Christian, and he wants to share his faith.

In this conversation, we go into how he intentionally stepped into the identity of FATHER, and the backlash he endured from sharing his faith on his Youtube channel, and what it means for Christians today.

He Escaped Iran in 1979. Now He's Equipping The Underground Church (How To Help Christians in Iran) ft. David Nasser

David Nasser narrowly escaped Iran in 1979 after the revolution.

He saw "religion gone wrong" and decided that he hated God.

You'll have to listen to what happened next, but it's one of the most glorious testimonies we've heard in a long time.

David knows only too well that this is a critical moment for the underground church in Iran.

We discuss his story, what's happening in Iran with the church, how we can help, and the biggest lessons on family that he took from the Middle East (compared to our western obsession with hyper-individualism).

On this episode, we talk about:

    0:00 Intro

    1:15 Escaping Iran

5:14 The Gospel for Shiite Muslims

    9:29 The Iranian Church

Should Women Have Kids or Get PhDs? (Reddit Reaction)

FREE 5 Day Email Series to Turn Your Family Into a Team: https://familyteams.com/transform/

    ---

Is it better to get a PhD, or have a child?

I found this wild interaction on the "child-free" subreddit, and had to comment on it from our pro-family point of view here at Family Teams.

There's a huge lie in the undercurrent of our society that has convinced so many young women to become hyper-individualistic and focused on self at the expense of children and family, and it's so tragic.

This is a good way to showcase that lie and remind everyone to start celebrating kids and family.

On this episode, we talk about:

    2:28 Surprising reaction

3:06 The value of a child

    4:00 PhD vs Children

Are Large Families Better For Kids Than Small Families?

There's a ton of talk lately about whether large or small families are better for kids, with most people saying small families are "obviously" better.

This comes on the heels of influencer Ballerina Farm sharing that she's pregnant with her 9th, after which she received pretty hard push back from some people on X.

In this episode, I'll walk you through why you're probably thinking about large families wrong, and explain the family teams way of thinking about this where the larger the family, the larger the blessing.

On this episode, we talk about:

    1:15 Blindspots

    4:26 Peers vs parents

7:08 Can you expect older children to "parent" younger siblings?

Build Family Assets, NOT Careers with Jeremy and Kristin Netting

One of the things we talk a lot about here at Family Teams is the idea of ASSETS over CAREERS.

In other words, we've found it extremely beneficial in building family teams to find ways to build assets together - especially businesses.

While it's not right for everyone, we think it's right for way more people than are currently doing it!

Jeremy and Kristin Netting join us today to talk about how they've started building family assets, and it goes WAY beyond just "start a business".

We're talking things like how to actually work with your family as a team, how to start training your kids young so they want to be involved, the power of local community and land, and how to navigate the cultural tension of "limiting" your kids' choices.

Absolute must-listen if you're ready to break free from building another man's family assets and start building your own.

On this episode, we talk about:

    0:00 Intro

4:37 Rethinking assets and careers as a family team

14:06 Doing things together to get used to building as a team

    21:06 Building legacy assets

    25:56 Land and local community

The EXACT System We Use To Train Our Kids To Do Anything

The Bible tells parents to train their children, so you know we take that seriously here at Family Teams.

But did you know there's a different between training your children and disciplining them?

Discipline is part of the training process, but it's certainly not the whole thing.

Learn the systems we use to train our kids to do everything from:

    - Cleaning up around the house before dinner,

    - Listen immediately and cheerfully

    - Quietly put themselves to bed

    - Cook meals

    - Clean up after meals

    ...and much, much more!

On this episode, we talk about:

    0:00 Intro

    1:03 System vs philosophy

3:37 3 reasons why you need a framework

5:46 What should your training system look like?

14:02 How to get your kids to clean the house every day
