Who Are God's Chosen People Today? What Does it Matter? (Mt 9:36-10:8)

Sometimes it seems like God has favorites when we read that God has chosen a particular people Israel for his own to be special and more favored than others. But it's important to remember God wants all people to be his chosen people and the Church is God's chosen people today and it's mission is to make present God's teaching and love to all the nations, and invite everyone to become one of God's chosen people.

The Eucharist: A Deeper Knowledge Makes the Mystery Known Jn (6:51-58)

In the Catholic faith the Eucharist is Central. For others who don't share this faith it can sound like Catholics are misled,  because of course to them Christ: His life, death, and resurrection are central. But the Christian faith is not about remembering a person who lived 2,000 years ago. It's about His presence still with us today, allow joining ourselves to be joined to him in body soul and spirit. This is because we are enfleshed spirits, not angels, it's the continued presence of Christ in our humanity that allows us to receive the Holy Spirit.

A Most Unexpected Revelation of God (Jn 3:16-18)

The Revelation given to Moses 3,000 years ago was the most incredible revelation of who God is surpassed only by Jesus Christ. If God has given us such a marvelous revelation we should respond by being as fully aware of it as possible.

Pentecost (Jn 20:19-23 and Acts 2:1-11)

Pentecost was part of the mission of Jesus. If we did not have  the Holy Spirit we could know who Jesus was by scripture and tradition, but it is by the Holy Spirit that we know who Jesus is! He is living and always with us by the power of his Spirit the Holy Spirit.

The Ascension Restores to Us Our Original Purpose (Mt 28:16-20)

Adam and Eve were originally given the task to care for the Earth and all creation and to keep everything in accord with God's plan. That is the task they forfeited, and Christ fulfilled, and now He once again shares with us that vocation. But now we are not left alone to do that, we have the direction and the power of Jesus guiding his church on earth until he comes again.

Christianity is Obedience of Love (Jn 14:15-21)

Christianity is not about following rules so that we can get to heaven. Salvation is because God has come to us and offered us a way to join ourselves to him who lives forever. It is a union of love mediated through the church and its sacraments in which he is truly present offering himself to us. Then by his power we obey his commands and we are formed to become like him when we love.
