On April 18, 1776, the first ships of the British fleet carrying reinforcements under General Cornwallis, arrives in Cape Fear, NC, joining up with General Clinton for operations in the south.

On April 8, 1776, the Continental Navy returns to Connecticut, after a two month raid on the Bahamas and capturing several British ships. Despite its actions, Congress is not happy and the Navy never sails as a fleet again.

During the summer of 1793, Genêt continues his efforts to start a war in America against Britain and Spain. Yellow fever decimates Philadelphia, bringing the entire country to a halt. By the end of the year, Genêt's momentum toward war has halted. His recall orders from France finally arrive in America.
