Disorderly is a podcast and blog that focuses on erasing the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. We intend to do so by having open, casual conversations about a wide variety of topics involving mental health and how these experiences fit into modern day life and society. We will reflect on own stories of both struggle and success and invite people with backgrounds much different from ours to share their narratives with us.
This episode of Disorderly, Bre opens up a discussion on whether/when one should discontinue therapy. Before that, Brayden tells a story about an uncomfortable situation...
Disorderly will now upload every-other-week! This week, Bre and Bray discuss the necessity of being confrontational in multiple facets of your life, while continuing the discussion on people-pleasing-problems.
After a teensy tiny break from the podcast, Bre and Brayden discuss how harmful people-pleasing actually is for not only you, but the people you are trying to please. Brayden dives into his "approval addiction."
Bre opens up about her story of sexual assault and speaks into the power of honesty and narrative. Bre and Allyson discuss women empowerment and the female experience.
This week, Bre and Brayden interview Kenny, Bre's childhood crush and professional chef (or as he puts it, a "steward of food"). He discusses his involvement with homeless outreach, his story of sobriety, as well as the current state of mental health awareness in the food industry.
Brayden and Bre discuss progress and the healing process, and touch on the importance of language throughout. They also touch on the topic of holding conversations between individuals with differing opinions.
Bre and Brayden discuss fear itself and its ties to anxiety, childhood trauma, as well as the juvenile and adult incarceration systems.
Bre and Brayden (but mostly Bre) talk about about codependency, and break down what it actually means to have codependent behavior patterns.
Bre and Brayden talk about what they do individually for self care, and dive deep into a discussion about what it means to them on less straightforward levels. They also read submissions from friends and listeners about unique things they do for self care!
Part 2 of Disorderly's interview with Megan, music therapist in training! In this episode, the trio does more to define Music Therapy and how it helps people in different ways, and Bre and Megan compare their experiences with EMDR.
Disorderly is BACK, for SEASON 2! For the first episode of the season, Bre and Brayden interview Megan, who is currently working on getting her Masters Degree in Music Therapy. They discuss different branches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, what it's like to work as a music therapist, how music is magic for the brain, and more. This is part 1 of a two-part interview, so stay tuned for another next week!
