For years, women disappeared from the streets of Cleveland, many of their cases receiving little attention. Then, in 2009, police entered Anthony Sowell’s home on Imperial Avenue and discovered the remains of 11 women.
In this rewind episode from 2018, Wendy and Beth examine the crimes of the so-called Cleveland Strangler, the women whose lives he took, the survivors who tried to sound the alarm, and the failures that allowed a killer to hide in plain sight.

20 August 2026, 7:01 am - 39 minutes 52 secondsThe Final Curse
Jake Bird, later dubbed the Tacoma Axe Killer, was born in rural Louisiana and claimed he couldn't even remember the name of his hometown. After his arrest in 1947 for the brutal axe murders of Bertha and Beverly Kludt in Tacoma, Washington, Bird confessed to dozens of killings across the United States, claiming responsibility for as many as 44 murders. While many of those confessions remain unverified, Bird was once considered America's most prolific serial killer.
In this rewind episode from 2018, Wendy and Beth examine Bird's violent crimes, the truth behind his astonishing confessions, and the eerie legend that has outlived him: the infamous "Jake Bird Hex," a curse that many believed claimed the lives of the people involved in his conviction.

No Safe Harbor
For years, men disappeared into the night across Virginia's Hampton Roads region. Their bodies were found along lonely roads, in vacant lots, and in secluded places, leaving investigators convinced a serial killer was stalking the area.
In this rewind episode from 2018, Wendy & Beth examine the murders, the investigation that spanned nearly a decade, and the case against Elton Manning Jackson - a man convicted of one murder but believed by authorities to be responsible for many more. Did police finally stop a serial killer, or does the truth remain hidden beneath the surface?

For more than a decade, women were found murdered along and around Figueroa Street in South Los Angeles. Many of the victims were vulnerable, and their deaths received little attention. As the years passed, the killer continued to stalk the streets while the cases remained unsolved.
In this rewind episode from 2018, Wendy and Beth examine the crimes of Chester Turner, the man later identified through DNA as one of Los Angeles' most prolific serial killers. They explore the devastating impact on the victims and their families, the investigative failures that allowed the murders to continue, and the wrongful conviction that left the real killer free to claim more lives.

30 July 2026, 7:01 am - 1 hour 13 minutesBlood in the Bayou
In the early 1900s, a series of horrific axe murders terrorized families across Louisiana and Texas, leaving entire households slaughtered in their beds. The investigation eventually led authorities to a young black woman named Clementine Barnabet, who confessed to dozens of killings and claimed they were carried out on behalf of a secret religious cult known as the "Church of Sacrifice."
But was she telling the truth?
In this rewind episode from 2018, Wendy and Beth explore one of America's most mysterious true crime cases. They examine the brutal murders, Barnabet's shocking confessions, and the many questions that continue to surround the investigation more than a century later. Was Clementine Barnabet one of the nation's earliest female serial killers, or was she a convenient suspect caught up in a flawed investigation fueled by fear, racism, and sensational headlines? It's a haunting mystery that remains unsolved to this day.

18 June 2026, 7:01 am - 1 hour 1 minuteFRUITLOOPS REVIEWS: Knock Down the House
Back in March 2025, in honor of Women's History Month, Wendy & Beth gathered for Video Club to discuss the documentary Knock Down the House.
The film follows four women from very different backgrounds - a Bronx bartender, a coal miner's daughter from West Virginia, a grieving mother in Nevada, and a nurse in Missouri - as they launch grassroots campaigns to challenge powerful, long-established members of Congress. Through determination, community organizing, and a willingness to take on the political establishment, they fight for a chance to bring new voices to Washington. Their journeys culminate in one of the most surprising political upsets in recent American history.
