Tensions between Cuba and the US have flared up over Cuba's support for the regime of Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro, who was arrested by American forces in January. Soon after that, the US began blockading oil to the socialist nation, and it’s now on the brink of economic collapse - so analysts say regime change could be coming soon. In this Squiz Shortcut, we’ll take a look at the history between the US and Cuba, what’s been happening recently, and what the US wants with it…

When the US and Israel launched their military operations in Iran in late February, some anonymous online gamblers made a lot of money. They’d placed bets on that exact event taking place, as well as the country’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, being either killed or removed as leader. It’s part of a rise in online gambling sites that take bets on real-world events, so in this Squiz Shortcut we’ll explain what these sites are, how they work, and why they’ve got some experts extremely concerned. Squiz Shortcuts is the backstory to the big news stories.
