Your body has this really awesome way to get you to rest: it’s called “by force” 😐 and happens when you’ve been ignoring its signals to you. Let’s all take more than a second to listen to what our bodies need. And instead of talking ourselves out of it, arguing, negotiating, ignoring, how about we just give in? If you don’t let it lead, it will drag you. And that’s less fun.

I was recently introduced to the work of Esther Perel, a renowned psychologist. She says, "There's a difference between not being dead and being alive." While one is living, the other is thriving; and to thrive, properly defined, is: to flourish, to grow vigorously and develop in a healthy way. So don't be merely not dead. It's your job to put yourself in positions where thriving is possible.

Something to pay attention to is your relationship with truth. Do you let it in? Do you ignore it? Do you confuse it? Do you bend it? "The truth doesn't change with your ability to stomach it"--that's one of my favorite quotes. The truth is your friend. It's a rumble--but it's your friend.

Resilience is the fifth try after 4 knock outs. It's the willingness to let go of what's heavy so you can hold on to what's light. It's not at all about how much you and take but about how flexible you can be when life takes you. Resilience refers to elasticity. If you're getting stretched thin, it's only because you're getting ready to get propelled forward. Fly like a rubberband, friend.

Decide who you want to be and be it. How you might ask? Do the things that the person you want to be, does. Give yourself grace when you slip up--which you will, and be determined to try again. Like anything, your best habits (saving money, eating well, practicing boundaries, whatever you want really), will become second nature.

Asking for help isn't, "Hey can I borrow $200?" It's "Hey, can you teach me how to save?" Find the need behind the need, and work on that.

You help shape the whole path of your life by asking, “what will I do in this moment?” over and over again. And your answer to that, while it might be based on other people (kids, spouse, parents) needs to incorporate You. You show up for others. I encourage you to show up for yourself, too.

Self doubt is annoyingly good at stopping you before you've started. It's superb at distracting you into doing something -anything-other than what you deeply want to do. It's the master at making sure you barely try. Self doubt is an asshole. But it doesn't respond to frustration and anger. It responds to effort and momentum: a tiny successful step and then another. Start stupid small.

Whether or not you live courageously isn't a testament to your power, it's a testament to your practice. Courage is not a one and done skill like riding a bike or learning to swim. It's an active, daily decision that you get to make. You already have the power. Practice making the choice.

Resentment is a feeling that steals energy and warps focus. It should never be inside you. But inevitably it does creep up from time to time. The moment you feel it building up, get rid of it. Say it out loud or sweat it out or cry it out. It has no business being in your business.
