    Paris is Burning

Cam watches Paris is Burning for the first time and discusses with Stephanie how the culture shown in the film goes unnoticed by a lot of people today. They also talk about the controversy surrounding the topic of compensation after the film ended up being a financial success.

Episode 48: Consent in Art About The Me Too Movement

**CONTENT WARNING: this episode has mentions of sexual harassment/assault.**

Stephanie and Cam talk about the nature of consent in image usage for another artist’s work. It’s especially important if you’re making a piece that is talking about the Me Too movement. Like…really, very, a lot important.

Episode 47: Racism and Profiling of Children at Boston MFA

Stephanie and Cameron discuss the somewhat recent story of racist fuckery unleashed on a group of 7th graders that occurred at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. They dig into the fact that there’s no way this was an isolated incident but wonder if the outcome (the museum introducing “sensitivity training” and banning former members that perpetuated racism) was enough.

    Episode 46: Um...Koons You Not?

Yet another favorite artist of Stephanie’s has recently made headlines—oh wait, did I say “favorite artist”? Oh sorry, I meant another of Steph’s favorite artists to deeply despise

Cam and Steph discuss the piece simply known as “Rabbit” by Jeff Koons, which sold at auction for a cool $91 million. While they’re glad Koons doesn’t actually see that money, they do have a thought or two on the piece itself and implications of the sale.

    Episode 45: c o n t r o v e r s y

Steph and Cam discuss a (somewhat) recent controversy sparked by a Tweet made on webcomic artist Nathan Pyle’s Twitter about the march for life and “pro-life” movement in general back in 2017. It raised some questions and concerns amongst progressive fans about whether or not this creator is anti-abortion. Cam and Steph talk about how it seems that he has left it up to interpretation with a half-baked answer following the backlash.

Also, this episode has a handful of those infamous poOoOoOlarizing opinions, so…be warned.

    Episode 44: I Think We’re Turquoise Now

In this episode Cam and Steph ask the question: can a company own a color? They talk about “Tiffany Blue” and the ways it’s associated with Tiffany and Co. as well as other uses of this concept. Cam also re-writes a little bit of Tiffany’s cover “I Think We’re Alone Now”.

    Episode 43: Spaghetti OH NO

You may have heard about “SpaghettiO Girl” before, but if not, Steph and Cam would like to tell you a bit about her in this episode and give you some of their thoughts on her notorious, once-viral performance piece: “Interior Semiotics”. It involves SpaghettiO’s, a pair of scissors, students at SAIC…and, well, you might be able to fill in the rest. Beyond this, they also talk about some work by the well-known performance artist, Marina Ambramović, and why her pieces seem to have more impact than other performance works out there.

    Episode 42: Project Onward

Steph and Cam talk about their experience and give a bit of a shout-out to a local non-profit called Project Onward. Plus, they share a bit about why Autism Speaks is maybe not the best organization to send your money to at this time. Or, possibly, any time.

If you DO want to support a great organization, however, you can do so by checking out Project Onward’s website: https://www.projectonward.org

Episode 41: All in A No

Cam and Steph recently found out about a play called All In A Row that went up in the UK last month. The play sounds to have been, uh, Extremely Bad…however, not everyone thought so. Which is to say, there were people who think it’s totally chill to portray autistic kids as ugly gray puppets and make reference to them being animals…? HUH. Well, Stephanie and Cam have a few thoughts on the, um, choices that were made to bring this play together.

Cam and Steph hope you enjoy this TOTALLY NORMAL EPISODE OF DRUNK ART CHAT!! NOT AN APRIL FOOL’S DAY RELEASE AT ALL!

It’s kind of not, though. So…calm down, gang. Super huge thanks to Paul Myers for giving us a sneak peak at his in-the-works podcast about the making of his game, Bolero. Check out his progress here: https://forums.tigsource.com/index.php?topic=66584.0
