Personal trainer to professional and amateur athletes, Grant Breese is this week’s guest on the 33Fuel podcast. Grant has worked in the industry for 20+ years and has developed a particular skill of helping his clients achieve their weight goals, whether that’s weight loss, maintenance or gain.
Grant does this by using a surprisingly unique method. Rather than “beasting” clients with HIIT sessions and massive diet changes resulting in rapid weight change - perhaps in the 6-weeks leading up to a summer holiday - Grant works closely with his clients to create new, sustainable habits that lead to long-term change.
If you’re looking to manipulate your weight – whether that’s gain, maintain or loss – then this conversation is for you.

Grant Sheldon has bagged a Top 5 on the World Triathlon Series, multiple World Cup podiums and represented Scotland at the Commonwealth Games. He’s also 100% plant-based.
You won’t believe the catalyst that turned Grant to a plant-based diet (hint: it involved a horrific bike crash!) and why he’s never looked back. You’ll hear how he fuels his training, meets his energy demands, recovers quick enough to train three times a day and his favourite snacks.
Grant attributes his elite performance to a plant-based diet and there’s plenty in this interview for you to take away and apply to your own nutrition strategy.

Sports and eating disorder dietician Renee McGregor is this week’s guest on the 33Fuel podcast. Renee has over 20 years’ experience working in a range of capacities, from NHS clinics to Olympic athletes within a range of sports.
Within her unmatched depth of nutrition, one of Renee’s particular areas of expertise is the subject of RED-S (Relative Energy Deficiency Syndrome). RED-S is ultimately caused by a combination of overtraining and under-fuelling, but it’d be remiss to think only elite athletes develop it.
Our conversation explores how anyone can develop RED-S. Indeed, the average amateur athlete striving for optimal performance while juggling life’s stressors can certainly develop the syndrome and, if unchecked, there can be serious health consequences.

For 10 years Kieran has tested every piece of running gear under the sun. Whether it’s the latest pair of super shoes, wearable tech, apparel, nutrition product or new data gathering device, he’s put it through its paces.

Ø Counting macro-nutrients
Ø The role serotonin plays in food and enjoyment
Ø Why being strict is counter-productive
Ø How to use nutrition for optimal training and recovery

Tim Etherington-Judge spent years in the drinks industry promoting the world’s biggest brands, but his seemingly perfect lifestyle wasn’t all it seemed. Deeply unhappy, he reached the pit of his darkness in an Athens hotel room with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a handful of pills in the other.
But that wasn’t the end of the story. Tim is a courageous, creative and hugely inspiring individual who’s having a positive impact on many (and on the planet). He founded Healthy Hospo, an organisation working to improve mental health in the hospitality industry and launched his own Calvados spirit company Avallen Spirits.
In this wide-ranging conversation we talk a lot about alcohol, its place in society and impact on physical health and performance. We explore how you can enjoy a drink in a healthy, sustainable way.
We also talk about Covid and how contracting it left Tim on his knees. Going from someone who ran 42 marathons in 42 days to celebrate his 42nd birthday to struggling to reach the bathroom without running out of breath pushed his mental health to its limits. But this experience, amongst many others, makes Tim a hugely inspiring, informative and all-round lovely person to listen to!

Identifying junk food seems simple on the surface: fast foods, soft drinks and sweets probably spring to mind. You might think that’s the end of it, but there’s another culprit hiding in many of our daily diets: ultra-processed foods.
In this episode of the 33Fuel Vlog, Warren explores what junk food is and delves into a new system of classifying foods into one of four categories based on their degree of processing. Learn the difference between unprocessed foods, processed ingredients, processed food and ultra-processed foods and how to identify each.
If you want to sharpen up your diet, see body composition changes, boost fitness and – crucially – better identify processed foods, this podcast is for you.
