Can We Please Stop Overanalyzing The Bodies Of Female Pop Stars?

On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren discuss Billie Eilish’s recent interview with Rolling Stone where she talks about how she uses sex to decompress, either with a partner or solo. This leads into a discussion about the public's pervasive and CREEPY obsession with overanalyzing the bodies of pop stars. There’s a reason why Eilish is known for her oversized looks, and it’s not just because they’re trendy af. Nobody is off limits including Lana Del Rey, Selena Gomez, and even Taylor Swift, and let's not forget every millennial woman’s Roman Empire, the iconic tabloid photo of Jessica Simpson in high-waist jeans. Emily and Lauren talk about how this gave us all a collective sense of dysmorphia, and close on how it specifically has affected their own senses of self.

Is This Brandy Hellville Doc Gonna Ruin Shopping For Me?

On today’s episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren recap HBO Max’s “Brandy Hellville & The Cult Of Fast Fashion” This brand has been a hot topic of discussion on this very podcast in episodes past and now it’s a cultural conversation so of course we had to dive in. The two discuss how the documentary brilliantly utilizes the zeitgeist of Brandy Mellville to help educate viewers on the horrors of fast fashion. Beyond that, we learn about the racist, antisemitic, fatphobic and sexist business practices that the owner utilizes. The two point out the brand’s evil genius methods of how they were able to bottle and sell the specific feminine teenage desire of belonging. So now what do we do? Tune in!

    Oprah-Zempic

On Today’s Episode of Diet Starts Tomorrow, Emily and Lauren recap Oprah’s recent TV special “Shame, Blame, and The Weight Loss Revolution”. They watched it so you don’t have to and they are both traumatized but also somehow laughing? Segment by segment, they recap what was said and then provide some context and their honest reactions. Confusion abounds. Finally they close with some statements from experts who found the special to be problematic. This episode is a bit of a wild ride and emotions run high so the hosts did just want to share a quick note: “We definitely do not pass judgment on anyone taking these drugs for weight loss. Not even a little bit. We just found the whole way this special was done to be manipulative, confusing and shame-inducing.”
