Shining a light on the best in unheard and overlooked music from Nashville.
Whoops, almost a month between episodes. Hate it when that happens but, hey, life has its varying priorities. What I love is that I was able to put together 2 hours of local music without batting an eye. The backlog is deep – a mile deep you might say – but that means that sharing local goodness with you is easy! It may not all be brand new but, as the saying goes, if you’ve never heard it before, it’s new to you! Fingers crossed Episode 398 won’t take near as long (it won’t).

Ending the year on a holiday compilation just didn’t feel right so this episode came together with the quickness! The upside to the wealth of Nashville music is that it doesn’t take much to put together something superbly enjoyable. Here’s around 90 minutes of local tunes to take you outta 2024 and into 2025. See you on the other side.

As the end of the year approaches, I can’t help but scramble to showcase even more local music. Forget the “Best Of” lists, just turn on the firehose of music and guzzle as much as you can. Savor every drop. There’s so much more to hear but here’s two hours of it to satiate you for a short while. Let this be your salve for holiday tunes, should you find yourself in need.

In this installment of our show we put together 58 minutes of music across 18 tracks (plus some extra padding for babbling about the tracks). It is, yet again, a wildly enjoyable romp through pop/rock, indie rock, hip-hop, some brutal metal and a few other styles along the way. Not quite breakneck speed but a delicious variety awaits.

Host Michael Bleeds returns for our annual Halloween spooktacular. This episode is the longest undertaking yet, clocking in at two and a half hours (with minimal talking). Come along for a soundtrack to Halloweeeen, perfect for October but enjoyable year round.

The double length duration of the last episode was so pleasing, we’re doing it again! Maybe that makes Episode 390 less special because now it’s becoming the norm but let’s not think about that right now. We’ve got approximately 2 hours of local music queued up (and one minute of fun coffee shop ambience) and not a single track on here is bad.

For episodes ending in a zero or five, we try to do something a little different. Given that this is Episode 390, we’re sticking to that tradition by offering up a double episode. All told, there’s 27 tracks here and about 2 hours of runtime. Does that sound overwhelming? Too much? Well, trust me, it’s not! Just treat it like radio, turn it on, let it ride and enjoy passively. We even throw in an intermission to keep it interesting.

Last episode we jumped the queue to get to some newer music from the local area. This is the queue that was jumped! More great local music that might actually be more relevant to share this episode than it was last episode. Kismet.
I mention DRKMTTR Fest in this episode. Be sure to mark your calendars for Oct 19th & 20th and go ahead and get those presale tickets.
That’s Ronin Black & Walt Flames on our cover – their collab album as PIECES drops on Aug 30th. Due to a clerical error, this is not mentioned in the episode. Those responsible have been sacked.

There’s been a wealth of great new releases lately and we’re itching for you to hear them; so we’re jumping our own queue and getting them out there. Here’s another hour of local releases that span the gamut of genres but they’re all a downright pleasure.
We recommend you get yourself to the DEFY Film Festival this weekend (Aug 16 + 17) and get yourself to the DRKMTTR Tape Swap next weekend (Aug 24, 2pm – 5pm). Also, you’re already following @defyfilmfest, @drkmttrcollective and @nashvilleshowtogo, right?

Far Out Fest 777 starts on Thursday, Aug 1st and runs through Saturday, Aug 3rd. It’s free this year! We have a quick chat with founder, curator, team leader Bunny Nunn about the history of the festival and what to expect at this year’s iteration.
After our chat, I spend some time previewing each of the artists playing over the weekend. Listening back to all it, it’s like a good playlist – plenty of variety but also thematically cohesive.
Thursday, August 1st is Far Out Film Fest at The Backlot, it’s sold out but maybe you got a ticket!
Friday, August 2 – Saturday, August 3 kicks off every evening at Vinyl Tap Nashville with a marketplace and lots of bands.
