Becoming proficient in property investment is like learning a foreign language, but you can master it, says Kate Hill.

Like marathon runners and migrants from other countries, the traits that separate those that achieve sustainable success in property are those that demonstrate the qualities of curiosity, embracing change and continuous learning, embracing mistakes as learning opportunities not failures, and demonstrating the patience, persistence and resilience to overcome obstacles and last the distance through dogged determination and daily discipline.

Our guest Kate Hill is a shining example of this.

Regional or city? That's always a big question for property investors, especially in Queensland. Troyson Bassani shares his insights.

Sticking close to the city was always preferred for many property investors ... until COVID hit. Then we saw an exodus to the regional areas, and that trend has stuck. 

For city centric property players push the capital concentration barrow, using employers return to work requirements to justify the story around the boomerang effect of people returning to the cities.

On the flip side, the continued tree change and sea change regional exodus to lifestyle, conveniently suits property players pushing a national borderless and regional approach.

So who is right? The answer: It depends.

It depends on why you're buying, what the property needs to achieve and what you can afford to buy.

I talk more about this through this week's episode, where Troyson Bassani joins again to share what he's learned about the pros and cons of regional markets especially in his home turf of regional Queensland.

Troyson is the Founder & Head of Research at Life Buyers Agency, who specialise in securing property in the north, central and south east Queensland regional property markets – opportunity areas that are getting a lot of increased attention in recent times.

Having a home built can be a nightmare.  Just ask anyone who has done it.  Even with a builder, you might experience missed deadlines, cost blowouts, misunderstandings, little or no communication and so on.  This experience leads some people to do it themselves as an owner/builder.  Unfortunately, most owner/builders don’t know what they don’t know.   There is a better way.  It is called Build Buddy.

It is estimated - according to a recent NAB survey - that up to 3.5% of all property purchasers in Australia are completed with the assistance of a buyer's agent compared to 45% in the USA where buyer’s agents are a much more used resource.  Some estimate that figure will climb to 37% in Australia.  Just one week ago in the US, courts ruled in favour of a group of consumers on a compensation claim worth $415M that relates to how buyers agents are paid in that country.  If approved, it is set to turn the commission structure and selling process in the USA on its head.  Already some industry leaders are looking at the Australian model as a guide.   But today we look the value they bring to the buying process with REBAA President Melinda Jennison.  Negative Gearing is under attack - I was going to say again but it would be more accurate to say still.  The Greens are again looking to label Mum and Dad investors as the baddies.  Rasti joins Bushy to discuss the likelihood something might happen and what the impact could be.
