DJ Craze on Winning 3 World Titles, Miami Roots & DJ Culture:

In Episode 107 of the Que Bola Podcast, I had the honor of sitting down with a true legend in the game — DJ Craze — a 3-time DMC World Champion and one of the most respected DJs in the world.

We started at the top, talking about what it really means to win not just one, but three world titles. Craze breaks down the level of discipline, obsession, and sacrifice it takes to compete at that level — something most people will never fully understand unless they've lived it.

From there, we rewind the story back to the beginning. Growing up in Miami after being born in Nicaragua, Craze shares how the city shaped his identity, his sound, and his hunger. We get into the early days of DJing — the grind, the practice, and the moments where he realized he wasn't just talented, he was on a path to becoming one of the best.

This conversation goes deeper than just music. We talk about the evolution of DJ culture, how the game has changed over the years, and what separates real DJs from the wave of newcomers in today's era. Craze gives his honest perspective on staying authentic, adapting without losing your identity, and maintaining respect in a constantly shifting industry.

What stood out most in this episode is the mindset. Craze doesn't just talk about success — he talks about the work behind it, the pressure, and the mentality required to stay at the top for decades.

This episode is a mix of history, culture, and real-life lessons from someone who has truly mastered his craft. Whether you're a DJ, a creative, or someone chasing greatness in any field, there's something in this conversation for you.

Our conversation delved into the rich history of the Miami Women's Club, which was founded in 1900, just four years after the city of Miami itself. Metris shared fascinating insights about the club's origins, highlighting how it began as a gathering of women who would meet on Julia Tuttle's porch to read and share books, eventually evolving into a significant force for community service and civic engagement in Miami.

Metris emphasized the importance of the Women's Club in documenting local history and its role in various social service initiatives throughout the years. Despite its long-standing presence, she noted that the club remains "hidden in plain sight," largely due to the older demographic of its members who may not be as active on social media or in publicizing their contributions. We discussed the need for revitalization and outreach to younger generations, as Metris aims to bring new energy and diversity to the club.

Throughout our conversation, Metris shared her journey within the organization, from joining in 2008 to becoming president, and how she is working to bridge the gap between the club's storied past and its future. We explored her theme for her presidency, "Be the Torch," which symbolizes the passing of knowledge and the importance of keeping the club's legacy alive. Metris also highlighted the club's historic building, which houses two restaurants and serves as a venue for various community events, including partnerships with local artists and organizations.

As we wrapped up, we discussed the upcoming gala event, which promises to be a vibrant celebration of the club's history and its commitment to supporting the arts and local nonprofits.
