Homo Sapiens, I Hear You.

Homo Sapiens, I Hear You is a monthly research seminar held at A/D/O; a design institution in Brooklyn, New York. The series aims to question and re-think humanity's essential needs -- and consider whether the modern practice of design addresses them. The podcast, produced by Elle Clay, will feature experts, doctors and designers from each month's live seminar along with A/D/O Research Director, Dr. Nelly Ben Hayoun. A/D/O is an initiative of MINI and reflects a fundamental belief that designers hold the keys to progress.

    2: A Potluck Dinner

The future of food is highly designed. If food is family, where does that leave heritage? Can sustainability and food rituals co-exist?

In Chapter 2, Elle delves into the future of food with A Potluck Dinner. Like any good dinner party, guests arrive ready to share more than signature dishes.

Faux Real Theatre founder, Mark Greenfield and master distiller, Kevin Herson provide a trip to the past with historical libations. As they feast, Elle reconciles her concerns with cultural anthropologist Jillian Cavanaugh, MOLD magazine editor LinYee Yuan and designer/artist Dr. Daisy Ginsberg.

    1: Somewhere In Dreamland.

Is sleep just a state of rest? Quite the opposite. The act of sleeping and dreams have intrigued us from the beginning of time. What happens when we bypass sleep and tap directly into the subconscious source?

In Chapter 1, Elle examines the subconscious through a journey into Dreamland. Along the way she discovers some unexpected parallels between sleep stages, art, and time-honored practices. Triggered by Economist and Nobel prize winner, Dr. Graciela Chichilnisky's warning of a restless future, Elle seeks resolution through rest stops with Director and special affects pioneer, Douglas Trumbull; Director of Women's Health Initiative for the David Lynch Foundation, Rachel Katz; and Life coach and hypnotherapist, Alexandra Janelli.
