The Calendar Lock: How Ambitious Couples Plan Their Week #700

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Over the weekend I was called selfish and told my marriage would end in divorce.

All because I went on a 3-hour run.

My wife knew. She supported it. Because we have a system that most couples don't, and in this episode I'm sharing exactly what it is.

It's called the Calendar Lock. One conversation, two calendars, three locks. And it's how Amy and I make sure we both chase big goals, invest in our marriage, and show up for our family, without anyone feeling like they're losing out.

    You'll learn:
    - Why "equal time" is the wrong goal — and what "agreed time" actually means
    - The one 20-minute conversation that plans our entire week
    - How to use two calendars to find time for personal goals, your marriage, and family
    - The 3 locks: personal time, spousal time, family time — and how to protect all three
    - Why one of you needs to lead while the other supports (and how to switch)
    - How Amy and I handle seasons where one person's goals take priority
    - Why you can't wait for perfect conditions to chase what matters

I also share what happened when I posted about my long run on the internet, and why the people who called me selfish didn't understand what Amy and I had already agreed on.

The Dad Who's Always There But Never Really Present #699

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Yesterday morning I was on a walk with my son Freddie, a moment that's supposed to be just us, and I was scrolling Instagram.

Then I looked up. And there he was.

That moment hit me harder than anything I've read about screen time or presence. Because I know better. And I was still doing it.

In this episode I share the 3-step process I'm now using to actually put the phone down and be present with my family, not just physically there, but mentally there too.

    You'll learn:
    - Why self-control alone will never fix a phone addiction (and what does)
    - How to decide which moments in your day actually matter, and protect them
    - The "Brick" — the tool I use to physically lock my phone during family time
    - What your phone is actually replacing (and why attaching pain to this changes everything)
    - The circle exercise - what are you missing while you're scrolling?
    - Why a great life is built one small moment at a time, and how many you're giving away

I also share the Instagram post that stopped me in my tracks, why I've fallen off the rails with this myself, and why I'm going back to the process that works.

Why Your Marriage Is Failing While Your Business Is Winning #698

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Last weekend taught me a huge lesson about marriage, and it started with one rule my wife created that we now never break.

If you keep telling your wife "things will calm down after this busy season," this episode is for you. I've coached men for a decade, business owners, athletes, FIFO workers, and the pattern before every marriage breakdown is the same: work got the best of them, and the family got the leftovers. In this episode, I share exactly how Amy and I protect our marriage while I run multiple businesses, train as an endurance athlete, and raise our young son Freddie.

    You'll learn:

    • Amy's Rule: the one travel rule that changed how we do work trips as a family
    • Why "when work slows down" is a lie ambitious men tell themselves
    • How to align your work goals and family goals so they pull you together, not apart
    • The calendar test: what your schedule reveals about what you really prioritise
    • Why date time with your wife doesn't need to be fancy — it needs to be protected
    • How to treat time with your wife like your most important client meeting
    • The message my wife sent me that proved all of this works

Ready to stop putting your marriage on hold?

I'm opening a small group cohort of The Locked-In Life Blueprint™ , built specifically for married business owners who want a real finish line on the workday, more presence at home, and a marriage that grows alongside the business instead of paying for it. Spots are limited and it's application only.

How to Rebuild Trust at Home in the Next 30 Days #697

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

I used to think providing meant working hard and earning good money. Then a mate's wife told me something that stopped me in my tracks, and made me realise I was quietly eroding the trust my own wife had in me, without even knowing it.

In this episode, I break down the three reasons your family might be losing trust in you, why money alone isn't enough anymore, and the simple 30-day process to stack proof that you're the man you say you are.

    You'll learn:
    - Why your family doesn't care that you're working hard — they care that you keep your word
    - The 3 trust leaks draining your relationship at home right now
    - Why "money isn't enough" and what your family actually needs from you
    - The daily deposit system — how small, consistent actions compound into deep trust
    - How to stop overpromising and start under-promising and over-delivering
    - Why your family is getting your leftovers (and how to come home with something left)
    - The finish line method — how setting a work end time changes everything at home

I also share the honest moment I realised I was doing this to my own wife Amy, even while thinking I was showing up for my family.

I’m taking 10 business owners through an 8-week program to build a Protected Week, so work has a finish line and home stops getting the scraps. Founding spots are open: https://wkf.ms/4foUmo1

Your Business Is Stealing Your Life (Here's the Fix) #696

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

This morning at breakfast, I told my wife I'm locking in my next 45-day fitness challenge. I know how that sounds when you're running a business, married, and raising a young family. But that's exactly why most men never do the things they say they will. They wait for the perfect season. They say "one day." And quietly, that one day fades away.

In this episode, I share the 3-step system I use to stop postponing the life I want, and how you can lock yours in without sacrificing your business, your marriage, or your family.

    You'll learn:
    - Why busy, successful men are the worst at actually living their life list
    - How to build your Life List and choose the one thing to lock in first
    - The Calendar Lock — how to make it real before life talks you out of it
    - How to have the hard conversation with your partner before you commit
    - How to protect your time when work keeps trying to steal it
    - Why "one day" is the most dangerous phrase in a man's vocabulary
    - The exact process I used before the 58 marathons — and what I'm doing next

This is for the bloke who's built something in business, shows up for his family, but quietly knows he keeps kicking his own life down the road.

He Lost His Sister to Suicide. Now He Uses Horses to Help Men Find Their Way Back | Dan Gillen #695

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Dan Gillen grew up working cattle stations in the Northern Territory, a life of ringers, rodeos, and motorbikes. At 17, he accidentally ran over a man who had fallen asleep drunk in the middle of a dark road. At 25, he lost his sister Tiff to suicide. Out of both of those moments came a calling.

Today Dan is a counsellor and equine-assisted therapist operating near Maryborough on the Fraser Coast in Queensland. He uses horses, who mirror their clients' emotions in real time, to help people understand their nervous systems, regulate their emotions, and finally feel things they've been suppressing for years.

In this episode, Lachlan Stuart and Dan Gillen have one of the most honest, raw, and important conversations in the Man That Can Project's history.

    This episode covers:

    • Dan's life on the cattle stations, and how it led to equine therapy
    • The accident at 17 and the unresolved trauma he didn't deal with for years
    • The loss of his sister Tiff to suicide, and how it changed the direction of his life
    • Why men wait until rock bottom to ask for help, and the true cost of that
    • The Window of Tolerance: what it is, how to recognise when you've left it, and how to come back
    • Fight, flight and freeze, which one you go to under pressure and why
    • How horses mirror human emotion in real time, and why that makes them powerful therapeutic tools
    • How to name what you're actually feeling in your body, and why that skill changes relationships
    • The documentary about Tiff and the impact of suicide on the Fraser Coast community

The 2-Minute Habit That Changes How You Walk Into Your House #694

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

You walk in the door. Your body's home, but your head is still at work, the invoices, the tough conversation, the subby who didn't show up. Your wife and kids can feel it, even if nothing's been said.

In this episode, I break down why home feels tense after work, even when nothing's actually wrong, and the simple framework I use to make sure that when I walk through the door, I'm actually there.

    You'll learn:
    - Why your family can tell when you're mentally still at work
    - The "Driveway Reset" — a 2-minute process to change your state before you walk inside
    - The 3 questions to ask yourself before you get out of the car
    - Why leaving work stress at work isn't selfish, it's necessary
    - How the first 15 minutes home sets the tone for your whole evening

This one's especially for trade business owners running a $500K–$2M business who've built something incredible but feel like it's costing them the life it was supposed to create. You don't have to choose between the business and being present at home. This framework helps you have both.

Stop Being the Only One Who Calls Your Mates #693

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Are you always the one reaching out to your mates? Always the one organising the catch-up, making the call, keeping the friendship alive?

In this episode, I break down why male friendships quietly fade as we get older, why it's not about your mates not caring, and the exact system to build relationships that actually last, even with a packed career, a family, and a busy life.

    You'll learn:
    - Why men become lonelier as they get older (and what the data says)
    - How to stop being the only one who initiates contact
    - The "relational bank account" — why daily deposits matter more than big gestures
    - How to fix the "no time to catch up" excuse for good
    - Why surface-level friendships stay surface-level (and how to go deeper)
    - The exact question that takes a friendship from small talk to real connection
    - How to build a cadence for your mateships, just like you would in business

I also share my own experience of being "that guy" who always reaches out first, what I do to hold the standard in my own friendships, and why removing the mask is the fastest way to build mates who stick around for life.

Boring Marriages Aren't Broken, and That's Exactly What Makes Them Dangerous #692

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

Boring marriages aren't broken marriages. Nobody's fighting. Nobody's unhappy enough to leave. You just feel flat, two people running the same household. And that's exactly what makes them dangerous.

In this episode, I break down why the spark dies in long-term relationships, and more importantly, the exact system I use with clients to bring it back, even when life is full, the career is demanding, and the kids are running the show. This is the conversation most couples avoid having until it's too late.

    You'll learn:
    - Why the honeymoon phase ends, and the real reason comfort becomes the enemy
    - How sitting across from your partner with nothing new to say is a signal, not a sentence
    - The two-list system: Mini Bucket List and Bucket List, and the cadence that keeps the spark alive
    - Why shared new experiences are the fastest fix for emotional disconnection
    - The infidelity stats that nobody talks about, and what they actually tell us about what couples are missing
    - Why the experiences that go wrong are the ones you'll talk about forever
    - How to stop wondering if the grass is greener and start watering your own

How to Have a Successful Marriage: 7 Honest Truths Most Men Never Hear #691

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

I put these 7 things on Instagram a few weeks ago. It hasn't stopped getting comments and notifications since. So I brought it here, because this is a conversation every man needs to have.

If you want a successful life and a great marriage, most men are focusing on the wrong things. They're building the career, hitting the goals, ticking the boxes, and slowly letting the most important parts of their life slip away without even realising it.

This episode covers the 7 honest things every successful man needs to hear:

    1. Prioritise your marriage: your wife isn't a box you tick after work and the gym
    2. Look after your body: it's the vehicle that carries everything else
    3. Don't take criticism from people you wouldn't trade places with
    4. Learn one high-value skill and get world-class at it
    5. Commit: cut the options and go all in
    6. Remove negative people: distance yourself from small minds and cynicism
    7. Work your mind: a chaotic mind creates a chaotic life

I also share the honest truth about how I've taken my own wife for granted when building my business, and why the relationship bank account matters more than most men think.

This is the episode your mates need. Share it.

Fitness After 35: Why a Strong Body Looks Different Now, And What to Do About It #690

    Message me your 'Takeaways'.

If you're in your mid-30s or 40s and your fitness feels like it's slipping, this episode is for you.

A strong body after 35 looks completely different to what it did in your 20s. Real life is pulling you in every direction: work, kids, mortgage, relationships. And the old approach, training hard, recovering fast, bouncing back, isn't cutting it the same way anymore.

In this episode, I walk you through the 5 pillars of a strong body for men over 35, and why missing even one of them causes the whole thing to wobble. This isn't about becoming an athlete. It's about building the physical capacity to keep up with your life, now and in 40 years.

    You'll learn:
    - Why fitness after 35 has to be measured differently (stop comparing yourself to who you were at 25)
    - Pillar 1 - Capacity: how to build your ability to meet life's daily physical and mental demands without breaking
    - Pillar 2 - Sustainable Energy: why sleep beats every recovery tool you're using right now (including ice baths and saunas)
    - Pillar 3 - The Resilience Loop: The 4-step framework Lachie developed during 58 marathons in 58 days
    - Pillar 4 - Longevity: how to train for the man you want to be in 40 years, not just two
    - Pillar 5 - Objective Performance: why competing (against yourself or others) changes everything

And the training template that works for men without a specific event goal:
→ 2x aerobic sessions per week
→ 2x full body strength sessions
    → 1x VO2 / high intensity session
