- 28 minutes 17 secondsBiblically Caring for Our Aging Parents
Doug and I are walking through the next season the Lord has for us right now, and it has me reflecting on so much. It’s a season we walked through 14 years ago when Doug’s parents were living in our home and we were caring for his sweet mom in her final days. And now we find ourselves here again, this time with his dad.
As I share a bit of what this season has looked like for us, I want to come back to the truths that have anchored me, and what God’s Word says about honoring our parents and loving well in this stage of life.
My prayer is that it encourages your heart, wherever the Lord has you right now.

9 April 2026, 5:21 pm - 8 minutes 58 secondsReclaiming Ordinary Life in a Distracted World
In a world that moves quickly, it’s easy to live at a pace that leaves our hearts hurried and distracted.
In this episode, I’m sharing reflections from a slower season away and what the Lord has been teaching me about the pace of my days. It’s easy to fill every quiet space with noise and constant input. But when I look at the life of Jesus, I see something different. I see presence. Unhurried conversations. Intentional time with people. Quiet moments in prayer.
The pace of our days doesn’t just affect our schedules. It affects our souls.
We’ll talk about how ordinary life is where God meets us, how our daily patterns shape our hearts, and how small, intentional choices help us reclaim presence in a distracted world.
Looking at the example of Christ and the encouragement of Psalm 1, we’ll be reminded that reclaiming ordinary life doesn’t require dramatic changes. It begins with small steps of faithfulness right where God has placed us.

Ephesians 4 shows us how change happens in the Christian life: we put off the old self, renew our minds with God’s truth, and put on the new self created in Christ. In this episode we talk through that pattern and how it plays out in marriage, parenting, friendships, our time, and our words.

2 December 2025, 10:00 am - 22 minutes 50 secondsKilling the Sin of Selfishness
Selfishness is one of those quiet sins that can easily slip into our hearts and homes. It often hides behind good intentions or small excuses, but God’s Word doesn’t leave us there. In this episode, we’ll look at what the Bible says about selfishness and how the gospel frees us to love others with the heart of Christ.
We’ll spend time in Philippians 2 and talk about what it means to deny ourselves daily, serve as Jesus served, and find joy in living for Him. My prayer is that this conversation helps you see the everyday moments like folding laundry, forgiving, listening, and serving as ways to love others and bring glory to the Lord.

10 November 2025, 9:00 am - 10 minutes 34 secondsDo You Have a Meek and Quiet Spirit
A gentle and quiet spirit isn’t weakness. It is strength under God’s control. It reflects trust in His sovereignty, not striving to be seen or heard. This kind of beauty doesn’t fade with age. It is lasting, Christlike, and precious in God’s sight (1 Peter 3:3–4).
If you’re struggling to cultivate this spirit in your own life, you’re not alone. Ask the Lord to grow it in you. Spend time in His Word. Look to Christ. He is gentle and lowly in heart, and He is faithful to complete the work He begins in us.Head over to ThankfulHomemaker.com for full show notes on all the links and resources mentioned in today's episode.

14 October 2025, 11:00 pm - 15 minutes 58 secondsBiblically Communicating With Our Children
Biblical communication isn’t just about getting our children to listen or obey—it’s about shepherding their hearts. It’s discipleship.
This episode is for every parent or grandparent who has ever struggled to know what to say, how to say it, or when to say it. We’re looking at what it means to communicate with grace, listen with patience, and speak the truth in love—whether with toddlers, teens, or adult children.
God has given us the beautiful calling of pointing our children to Christ—and one of the most powerful tools He’s given us to do that is our words.
