Some good news for those of you who didn’t want Avatar in the Hollywood Pictures Backlot area. Micechat reports that locations for the new Coco and Avatar projects have been in flux. After studying the crowd flow on Pixar Pier, there may not be enough room for an extended queue where the planned Coco attraction would be located. It was suggested to move the Coco attraction to Hollywood Land, which would allow for Monsters, Inc. to be saved as Coco would move into the Hollywood and Dine location. This leaves the Avatar project without a home for now. – https://www.micechat.com/399618-disneyland-update-project-switch-a-roo-construction-price-hikes-too/

Recently in the Orange County Register, there was talk of how Disneyland almost used drones in World of Color when it premiered back in 2010. One of the reasons that this didn’t come to be was governmental regulations on use of drones in nighttime spectaculars. Regulations have decreased since then, which has resulted in drone shows at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World. Maybe drones will be in Disneyland’s future as well. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/09/25/confirmed-disney-almost-used-drones-in-world-of-color/

If you could brave the heat this week, Disneyland was very pleasant. The above 100 degree temperatures kept a lot of guests away, which meant low crowds all around the resort. Clear walkways, and low wait times for attractions were good, but some attractions were down most of the day. Grizzly River Run was one of the top attractions at a wait time of only 10 to 40 minutes! – https://www.micechat.com/397277-disneyland-update-haunts-heat-halloween-treats/

Construction will soon begin on the expanded Avengers Campus early next year, so some clearing needs to happen backstage. A missing treat has returned to Disney California Adventure! The Choco Smash Bar was taken off the Pym Test Kitchen menu last year, replaced by the cake version. The candy bar version is back, joining the cake version as an option. - https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/08/25/a-missing-disney-snack-is-back/
Magic Happens had it’s last performance recently, and in it’s place is a new offering. The Halloween Cavalcade is a short production with a couple of Main Street vehicles and a float with characters in their Halloween costumes. There are also quite a few walking characters as well. - https://www.micechat.com/395538-disneyland-update-construction-tricks-and-halloween-treats/
Some quick construction updates from around the resort. The Haunted Mansion extended queue is starting to take shape with the main walls of the new section looking pretty far along in construction. The gift shop at the end of the attraction has begun vertical construction. The transformation into Bayou Country from Critter Country is progressing nicely, along with Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which is testing off and on. Finally, the Hungry Bear Barbecue Jamboree has a new sign and the refurbishment of the dining area looks to be wrapping up. - https://www.micechat.com/395538-disneyland-update-construction-tricks-and-halloween-treats/ https://youtu.be/0jYcPQlCRK0?si=lXt0TI9uAK1ixMzj https://www.micechat.com/383350-disneyland-update-rainy-days-reveals-and-reinventions/

With Disneyland being located in California, it is always possible for the earth to move beneath your feet. On August 12, around 12:20pm, a 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck the Los Angeles area. We were in the parks then and did not feel this. Note that when there is an earthquake, sometimes Disneyland will close attractions to ensure safety and are well equipped to respond if a larger quake did occur. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2024/08/12/4-6-magnitude-earthquake-shakes-southern-california/
An update on Porto’s coming to Downtown Disney: According to Business Wire, Porto’s is officially opening in the shopping district in 2025. The Disney Parks social media team teased two new villains coming to Oogie Boogie Bash. The teaser showed a Baby carriage, then a vase that seems to show Hercules like artwork, then a control panel that pans to a chair with a lab coat. Online folks are thinking it is Hades and Dr. Doofenshmirtz from “Phineas and Ferb.” - https://www.instagram.com/reel/C-Ij_YIJAMV/
With Oogie Boogie Bash only a few weeks away, some new merch has been unveiled for the event. A Minnie Winifred Sanderson sipper will be on sale at Hollywood Lounge, and the 2024 Oogie Boogie Bash Collection featuring a t-shirt, hoodie, headband, and more. One of our favorite eateries in Downtown Disney has two locations for a limited time! Earl of Sandwich is now open at the temporary food truck near Star Wars Trading Post. The previous location near the esplanade is still open now as well. - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/
Now that the Haunted Mansion is open for virtual queue guests, there are some new additions and changes spotted this year to the attraction. One that changes every year is the gingerbread house in the ballroom scene. This year it is a Dr. Finkelstein house that is trying on different gingerbread heads for the gingerbread body on the house. The Marc Davis bat in a cage has returned, but this year is in the hallway with the breathing doors. Two new jack-in-the-box figures are at the end of the attic, where the bride is usually at, and finally the ghosts who follow you home in the mirrors at the end are now projections, but you almost can’t tell! - https://www.micechat.com/393233-disneyland-update-dead-er-together-d23-screams-haunted-happenings/
