    In this episode, you’ll meet Anthony, Guillermo, Fox, Annie, and Venerable Wen. Anthony is a Chinese-American student from Chino who understands the difference between an education and a compassionate education. Guillermo, a freshman from Compton, explores how compassion means being good to other people. Fox is a student from South Dakota who experienced some culture shock and learned to really meet people where they are. Annie came from Taiwan in order to pursue a career of helping people as a marriage and family therapist. Venerable Wen is a Buddhist Nun from Taiwan exploring how to use mindfulness to help women suffering with trauma. Find out how compassion comes into the community and the classroom at UWest.

    In this episode, you’ll meet Guillermo, Annie, Fox, and Venerable Sumitta. Guillermo is a freshman student from Compton who never thought he would go to college, but overcame some major obstacles to get here and is very glad he did. Annie is from Taiwan and originally came to UWest to study English, then returned for graduate school in psychology. Fox is a poet from South Dakota who wanted to explore a larger world. Venerable Sumitta is a Buddhist monk from Sri Lanka who was already a college professor before becoming a student again in UWest’s PhD program in Religious Studies.     In this episode, you’ll meet Farmata, Melody, PJ, and Venerable Hyemin. Farmata is from the western African country of Mauritania and came to UWest in search of sunshine and the opportunity for scholarships UWest offers international students. Melody and PJ are a punk rock duo known as the Atomic Attractions, who fell in love with the ‘good-weird’ community of UWest right away. Venerable Hyemin is a Buddhist monk born and raised in Normal, Illinois, who found a home at UWest where he can both study and practice his religion.
