World Without Words

George Helios

In this podcast series I aim to capture soundscapes from around the Australian Capital Territory and any places that I visit. No words; just ambience. There is a whole world of sound to discover, if only we pay attention to it. Let this podcast be a tool to help you do that, or just put it on to be transported to another place for a few minutes.

    Pine Island Reserve - 15th of October 2017 - Part 2
A quiet section of the Murrumbidgee River at the Pine Island Reserve. I love how the bird calls complement the sound of water.

Gym Rowing Machine - 17th of September 2017
Me, rowing at the gym alone. Rowing is my exercise of choice, every night since a year ago. When I row with my eyes closed for 1-3 hours, it is a meditative experience that gives me clarity of thought and creative inspiration.

    Scrivener Dam - 27th of August 2017
I recorded this track at Scrivener Dam in Weston Creek (ACT) on Sunday, the 27th of August. It was late-afternoon and there were cockatoos landing on the grass behind me, as well as some equally large black-feathered birds that were perching on a nearby tree. Some large mammal-type of animal could also be heard breathing heavily but I could not see what it was.

    Corin Forest - Part 3 - Late Evening - 20th of August 2017
It was getting late in Corin Forest so I decided to walk back to my car. On the way I noticed the crickets chirping which I just had to share with my listeners, even if I risked walking through the forrest trail in the dark.

    Corin Forest - Part 2 - Amongst The Trees - 20th of August 2017
Another recording from Corin Forest, in the Australian Capital Territory. This one was made on top of a felled tree trunk next to the main trail. There was snow everywhere and the birds were barely chirping which made the small gusts of wind traveling through the forrest more obvious to hear.

    Corin Forrest - Part 1 - 20th of August 2017
Recorded at the Orroral Lookout of Corin Forest in the ACT. The area was covered in snow, which was nice to see again after two decades.
