    041 - Justin Juntunen - Co-Founder of Cedar & Stone Nordic Sauna

Welcome back to another season. For those who follow A Moment With Mart, you understand the natural ebbs and flows of how Mart's consistency works.

It has been a nice break, but it is time to dive back into the intellect. To chop it up with those around the world. See how they're living. How they're thinking.

We kick back up with Justin Juntunen, Co-Founder of Cedar & Stone Nordic Sauna. Justin has become a good friend of mine, and it was an enjoyable sit-down with him for this episode.

I originally found an admiration for his craft through his ability to tell stories and relate traditional practices to the speed of modern life. I wasn't able to hang out with him for those initial years after discovering him, but once I did, I learned so much more.

His talent for entrepreneurship. His skill in leadership. And his lengthy coverage of philosophy and health. I knew immediately we would develop a sustainable friendship. And that's exactly what happened. Whether we meet at the start of summer in Duluth to sauna and swim in the frigid Lake Superior waters, or he's down in the desert visiting friends, we have found the space to connect. Talk sauna, talk life.

That is exactly what we did on this episode. Justin came over to my house in the desert, and we took the stream of consciousness for a walk. I love hearing him touch on quality sauna. The history of sauna. The details of sauna. And of course, the approach to health with sauna.

Side note — I've also traveled the globe, hitting the sweat box. This guy and his team are undoubtedly at the top of the field, both nationally and internationally.

    One love

    038 - Father Ben - Priest & Scholar

This week, we have Father Ben joining the show. He joined the Dominicans in the Summer of 2014 and spent seven years in formation for the Dominicans in Denver, St. Louis, and was at St. Paul's for his pastoral year in 2017-2018. After being ordained in 2021, he spent three years as a parochial vicar at St. Tom's in West Lafayette, the campus ministry for Purdue University. He has since relocated to Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana, where he currently resides.

Ben and I have a friendship that goes back to college. From those days to now, our relatioinship has been built on seeking truth and expanding our thoughts through faith. I have enjoyed watching Father Ben take his faith to the highest degree over the years and be a resource for many.

This conversation is a peek into the experiences we've had and spaces we've shared. I've leaned heavily on Ben throughout my adult life for understanding and comprehension of the Bible. I feel as though this meeting only scratches the surface of where we may go in the future. For now, this is our first recorded conversation, which I feel you will enjoy!

    One love.

    037 - Chi - Musician, Yoga, Astrology

This week, we have my friend Richard Johnson, who goes by Chi. Chi and I met a few years ago at a sound bathing retreat, and he was one of the teachers. I gravitated towards his philosophy and the lessons he taught through sound. Fortunately, we maintained a friendship and were able to meet once again this summer in Minnesota.

Before the podcast, we spent some time playing sound bowls, gongs, and my new favorite, the harmonium. Amongst the Minnesota nature, surrounded by trees and wetlands, the breathwork paired with sound bathing made for a perfect afternoon before getting behind the microphone.

We dive into numerous topics from flow, religions, sound bathing and multiple philosophies that govern our world. Chi also did an Astrology reading for me, which you can follow along with. Enjoy the show. One Love!

036 - Jakob Junis - Major League Baseball Pitcher Cleveland Guardians

This week we have the smooth, soft-spoken, prominent-hearted legend, Jakob Junis. It has taken quite awhile to get the big fella on the podcast, but the winds finally made it in our favor. As he was in Minnesota to play the Twins, nature called for rain and thunderstorms. With the cancellation of a ball game, the boys got to sit down, have coffee, and talk about life.

Junis is a family man who knows his way around Major League Baseball. With parts of nine seasons in the show, we break down the path. His ability to articulate his early days in the league to where he is now relates to many of us on personal pressures and obstacles in our career trajectory. Having the flexibility and awareness to navigate life on the road, balance family life, and pursue greater heights professionally resonated well.

Enjoy the show with my good friend. One love.
