Homeowners are asking for more control, more resilience, and more value from their solar investments. In our recent webinar with FranklinWH, BayWa r.e. unpacked how the aPower 2 (AC-coupled battery) and the new aPower S (all-in-one hybrid PV inverter + battery) help you design simpler, stronger, and more flexible solar + storage systems – while protecting your margins and your time.
Below are the key takeaways for residential installers, plus direct links to get the gear you need through the BayWa r.e. Webstore.
New builds/full replacements: Lead with aPower S for DC-coupled efficiency and lower labor time. Add aPower 2 for extra power and capacity without another inverter.
Retrofits: Add aPower 2 to existing micro or string PV; or add aPower S + new PV to grow production and storage together.
All-in-one architecture.
aPower S integrates a hybrid PV inverter and 15 kWh usable battery in one enclosure, cutting parts, conduit runs, and install time. It supports up to 20 kW DC across four MPPTs, each accepting 15 A per string with 600 V DC max and MPPT range of 90–480 V DC—giving you wide stringing flexibility for today’s modules.
Higher system efficiency.
DC-coupled PV to battery minimizes conversion losses and allows simultaneous DC (PV) and AC charging – useful for TOU arbitrage, EV load shifting, and storm prep.
Real-world power.
Continuous discharge is up to 11.5 kW when PV is producing, and 10 kW on battery-only – plenty for 240 V loads such as well pumps, mini-splits, ovens, and EV chargers.
Warranty built for longevity.
Each aPower S carries a 15-year warranty or 60 MWh throughput (70 % SOH at end of life). The unit is also warranted for off-grid use, with IP67-rated components in a Type 3R enclosure for outdoor installations.
If you’re pairing storage to existing PV (microinverters or string inverters), stay lean with the aPower 2 – a 15 kWh usable, AC-coupled battery that’s retrofit-friendly and compatible with most third-party PV inverters.
Mix and match.
You can expand an aPower S system with aPower 2 to add both power and capacity, or start with aPower 2 on an existing PV site and later add an aPower S plus new PV.
Quick reference specs (aPower 2):
15 kWh usable energy (1.1 kWh reserve for black-start)
10 kW continuous output / 15 kW 10 s peak / 8 kW charge power
120/240 V or 120/208 V single-phase compatible
15-year / 60 MWh warranty | Off-grid ready | Outdoor rated (IP67, Type 3R)
Rapid Shutdown (RSD):
aPower S is listed as PVRSS when installed with approved external RSD devices such as APsmart or Tigo. (Per webinar, FranklinWH is developing its own MCI RSD solution, target timeline 2026.)
208 V single-phase compatibility:
Ideal for multifamily and larger homes using 120/208 V services.
Webstore built for installers: Real-time stock and shipping estimates, team-cart tools, and badges for U.S.-manufactured products keep projects on track.
Forecasting & account support: Dedicated account managers and a national warehouse network ensure timely deliveries and consistent pricing.
Job-site delivery: Ship direct to site (if you’re within our branch service area) to cut handling time and keep your crews productive.

Last week, one of BayWa r.e.’s newest partners, Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions, stopped by for an informative webinar diving into the advantages of the SimpliPHI 6.6 battery for home energy storage. To learn everything you need to know about the SimpliPHI system, you can watch the entire session below or read on to discover some of the key information we learned directly from Briggs & Stratton product experts.
Sold in over 100 countries, Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions is a Wisconsin-based global leader with several manufacturing facilities in the US. While the company has been in business since 1908, its “latest and greatest” product is the SimpliPHI 6.6 Battery, which debuted in 2024. To date, Briggs & Stratton batteries exceed 500 MWh of installed capacity nationwide.
Today, Briggs & Stratton Energy Solutions works very closely with Sol-Ark, another American manufacturer and BayWa r.e. partner, to help installers deliver quick & easy inverter + backup storage solutions. So while the SimpliPHI 6.6 battery is “inverter-agnostic,” Sol-Ark’s innovative inverters are Briggs & Stratton’s preferred partner for creating highly capable integrated energy solutions for US homeowners.
With Sol-Ark + SimpliPHI 6.6, you get a flexible and dependable energy storage system that is easy to install and configure with short lead times and the national support of reachable, knowledgeable sales teams. Sol-Ark & SimpliPHI 6.6 systems accept both AC & DC solar power, can be gird-connected or set-up for off-grid, and allow easy generator integration for extra electricity support.
Best of all, the modularity of SimpliPHI 6.6 batteries make it incredibly easy to scale energy storage with a simple, stackable bank of hardware. Plus, at 130 lbs. each, SimpliPHI batteries are among the lightest weight in the industry for easy transport and installation. In terms of flexibility, systems can be both ground or wall mounted, placed indoors or outdoors, and extra batteries can be added at the time of initial installation, or later in the future to fit property owners’ growing energy needs.
In short, SimpliPHI 6.6 batteries are an innovative product from a high-quality brand that offer installers a US-based agnostic storage solution easy to integrate, monitor, and scale.

In June 2025, BayWa r.e. welcomed Ryan Adams, Director of Business Development at Silfab Solar, to speak about one of the hottest topics in the renewable energy industry: Domestic content and the future of American-made solar panels.
This webinar was one of our most-attended interactive online presentations ever, and in case you missed it, you can relive the experience in the video below or keep reading to learn some of the most important information we extracted from the event.
In 2025, Silfab Solar boasts over 40 years of solar industry experience and over 1000 employees scattered across North America. While the company maintains an office in Toronto, Canada, 100% of Silfab Solar modules are now produced in the United States at facilities in Burlington, Washington and Fort Mill, South Carolina. Silfab Solar has survived countless industry fluctuations and grown sustainably while following principles of financial stability, R&D innovation, an ethically sourced supply chain, and precision manufacturing.
For Silfab Solar, producing American-made solar panels comes with many benefits for installers, the US solar industry, and the planet. To start, domestic sourcing helps avoid many tariffs and completely side-steps any worries surrounding Antidumping (AD) and Countervailing Duty (CVD) laws on modules produced in select countries overseas. Domestically produced panels also adhere to the highest global manufacturing standards and ensure a supply chain free of forced labor with increased transparency and traceability, while supporting stable, high-paying jobs.
While Domestic Content addder guidelines continue to evolve, it is difficult to pinpoint the exact economic (and tax credit) benefits of choosing American-made panels at this time, however there are no doubts that Silfab’s products support growth in local economies. The company is also very much committed to environmental sustainability with long-term strategic partnerships for recycling and low-carbon footprint production facilities.
Today, many Silfab Solar panels are available in the BayWa r.e. webstore, including modules compliant with the Build America Act and current Domestic Content tax credit guidelines.

The entire line of residential batteries from Briggs & Stratton is now available from BayWa r.e. distribution. The Briggs & Stratton products available include its newest SimpliPHI 6.6 battery along with its AmpliPHITM 3.8 battery, PHITM 3.8 24V and PHITM 3.8 48V batteries.
Briggs & Stratton SimpliPHI 6.6 batteries feature a number of advances that make installation easier. They have self-guiding RapidStak connectors that integrate power and communications into a single point without wires or DIP switches. The batteries stack on top of one another and click into place, making installation easier and more efficient. Assembling a stack of three can be done in five minutes or less, the company claims.
They are IP65 rated so they can be installed indoors or outdoors with no additional cabinets required. They can be ground- or wall-mounted inside a garage, shed, utility closet or basement or outside on an exterior wall. Plus, the flexibility of using one, two or three batteries per stack means the system can fit into compact spaces.
In addition, the SimpliPHI 6.6 has full closed-loop integration with leading inverters for advanced communication and broad non-communicating compatibility with any 48-V lithium-supporting inverter.
Tested and certified to the most stringent standards, the SimpliPHI 6.6 battery is UL 1642, UL 1973, UN 3480 and UN DOT 38.3 certified and has gone through UL 9540A fire safety testing. In 2024, it secured its UL 9540 Edition 3 certification as a standalone DC ESS and recently passed the earthquake vibration test (GR-63-CORE, Issue 5. Section 4.4.1) conducted by Element U.S. Space & Defense.
“We are pleased to welcome Briggs & Stratton to our supplier portfolio in the U.S. This partnership reflects our commitment to supporting our customers with a diverse offering of energy solutions. Our focus remains on supporting solar and energy storage installers with reliable, high-quality solutions that empower long-term success.”
– Ken Lima, CEO of BayWa r.e.’s U.S. Solar Distribution business.
