Welcome to the Marriage Talk Podcast - Ep 192 - Do You Have A Stormproof Marriage? You Can!
In his new book, Stormproof Marriage: Why Listening and Following Jesus's Teachings Matter in the Eye of the Storm, pastor and marriage ministry leader Ricardo F. Flores uses that very analogy to offer a practical and spiritual guide for couples at any stage of life. Drawing from scripture, his own experience in a once-broken marriage, and more than five years leading marriage ministry at Somos Grace Church in Laredo, Texas, Flores introduces the "CARE" model to help husbands and wives build a Christ-centered relationship that can weather anything.
At a time when many marriages falter under pressure, Stormproof Marriage teaches couples how to:
- Build their relationship on the rock-solid foundation of Jesus and His teachings
- Love with agape: unconditional, godlike love
- Lead and support each other through biblical roles (husband as the roof, wife as the walls)
- Practice grace instead of falling into performance-based love
- Grow in spiritual intimacy and emotional connection through Christ
Flores' message is especially timely for readers facing hardship in their marriages, and hopeful for those seeking deeper connection in times of peace.

Welcome to the Marriage Talk Podcast - Ep 191 - Secrets of Sex Part TWO with Shaunti Feldhahn & Dr. Michael Sytsma with a special focus on their breakthrough book, Secrets of Sex and Marriage: 8 Surprises That Make All the Difference
Most people are curious about sex and would love a few answers. "Are we normal?" "Why isn't my spouse as interested in sex as I am?" "I don't want to feel pressured, but don't want to disappoint my spouse either--what do I do?" "How do we handle the impact of medication, menopause, porn, ED, pain . . . ?"
Most importantly: "How can we get on the same page and create a thriving intimate life?"
Sex is one of the most common marriage issues (for example, almost 80% of couples are mismatched in how often they want it), but it doesn't have to be that way.
Relationship researcher Shaunti Feldhahn and renowned sex therapist Dr. Michael Sytsma have identified eight simple, transformational factors to help you move from disconnection to delight. This is knowledge you can trust, based on vast clinical experience and their breakthrough research, including the largest nationally representative study ever conducted with married couples about sex.
This book is not a "sex manual"; it is a fascinating, practical field guide that will help you intimately understand your spouse and create the marriage you've always wanted.

5 November 2024, 12:01 pm - 24 minutes 33 secondsYour Guide To Arguing Properly
Welcome to the Marriage Talk Podcast - Ep 186 - Your Guide To Arguing Properly
Dr. Gary Smalley had some great tips for couples when they
argue. They are:
1. Don't escalate the argument. This seems simple enough, but we all do it. So, next time you start to argue, step back, take a deep breath and count to 10.
2. Don't withdraw from the argument. Disagreeing actually means you care. Oft en withdrawing from an argument doesn't make the problem go away.
3. Don't belittle your spouse. Name calling is a verbal hand grenade for your marriage. Words like, "you're so stubborn," or, "you're such a brat," can never solve an argument.
4. Don't project on your spouse something they are not. If your husband isn't ready to buy a new couch, don't call him cheap. If your wife wants a new dress, don't call her a diva.

1 October 2024, 11:00 am - 22 minutes 49 secondsIs Your Wife A "Weaker Vessel" Or Fine China?
Welcome to the Marriage Talk Podcast - Ep 184 - Is Your Wife A "Weaker Vessel" or Fine China?
1 Peter 3:7 reads,
"Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live
with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker
vessel and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so
that nothing will hinder your prayers."
Th is is perhaps one of the most controversial passages of Scripture when it comes to marriage, because no woman wants to be considered as a "weaker vessel." However, if we dig deeper into the meaning of the phrase "weaker vessel," it is actually a term the ancients used for fine china. It was called weaker vessel because it was not as clunky as everyday dishes.
So let's read that again: "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as fine china...."
Now there is a great example of how to treat our wives. And the result? Our prayers will not be hindered!

29 July 2024, 12:00 pm - 25 minutes 33 secondsIs The Perfect Marriage Pure Fiction?
Welcome to the Marriage Talk Podcast - Ep 183 - Is The Perfect Marriage Pure Fiction?
Is there such a thing as the perfect marriage?
The spouse God gave us is all we will ever need in our marriage. Satan will try to get you to believe that
there is someone "better" out there, but don't be fooled, we're all fallen creatures that have scars and pasts and baggage. When you grasp the idea that your spouse, given to you by God, is all you ever need, you start looking at that person in an entirely different light.
Looking for the good and not the bad; the helpful not the hurtful, and your marriage grows strong.
