Some stories are so good, you have to consume them differently.
We had the chance to interview Last Prisoner Project Executive Director Steph Shepard for vol.13 of CashColorCannabis magazine.
Reading and hearing are two different experiences, and in this case, I think hearing it will give you an even better glimpse into Steph and why she works so hard.
Welcome back, everyone to another episode of CashColorCannabis Podcast “A Higher Level of Conversation.”
For this week's show, we sit down with Etysha Mixson, founder of Tee’s Teas. I met Tee while in Las Vegas last year. She gifted me with a bag of her special blended tea to try out. This isn’t like Lipton or any of those other brands. Her’s can take you up a few levels.
After we got all the jokes and giggles out of the way, we got into how the brand came to life, the role her mother plays in it, the many other products under the umbrella, and more.
In this episode of Stay Loud: A 420-Friendly Travel Series, we sit down with Ayanna Lawson, founder of Front Row Travels. Ayanna specializes in curating custom, elevated travel experiences designed around her clients’ lifestyles.
We talk about what a 420-friendly stay really means, how to tell if a destination is truly “us-friendly” (you know what we mean), and what travelers should consider before booking their next getaway. If you’ve ever wondered how to travel comfortably, confidently, and aligned with your vibe, this one’s for you.
So buckle up and get ready for departure. Stay Loud is ready to take off.
Stay Loud is brought to you by our good friends at Bud & Breakfast. To learn more about Front Row Travels and book with Ayanna, head to their Instagram and schedule a call. Ready to plan your own 420-friendly trip? Visit budandbreakfast.com to explore stays that support your lifestyle.

2025 was a year of transition, growth, and learning in real time.
In this Patreon-exclusive episode, Mehka reflects on a year that reshaped how the CashColorCannabis Podcast is created—from moving from Atlanta to Tampa, to losing weekly studio access, to learning how to edit audio and video independently and record solo more than ever before.
That shift opened the door to new formats and deeper storytelling, including multi-episode series like Flavor + Function with Wana, our work with the MCBA and their 10th anniversary, and timely conversations around social equity—like the Illinois lawsuit impacting operators on the ground. At the same time, the show stayed rooted in what started it all: thoughtful one-on-one interviews with voices like Dasheeda Dawson, Box Brown, and Ryan from the Indie Nerd Collective.
The year closed on a high note in Las Vegas, where Mehka moderated a main-stage panel for the first time and partnered with Blunt Brunch to gift tickets to two listeners—bringing community, access, and intention full circle.
This episode is a behind-the-scenes look at what it took to keep the show moving forward, what was learned along the way, and how those lessons are shaping what’s next.

CashColorCannabis — Culture Grows Here. 🌱✊🏾
Recently, CashColorCannabis took a trip to Las Vegas for MJBiz. Between activations and panels, host Mehka grabbed the mic and conducted a few interviews.
One of those conversations was with Dazed co-founder Keyshawn Warner.
We caught up with the Harlem native right after the NY Takeover stage to talk about his first cannabis experience, the vision behind Dazed, expansion possibilities, and the role Harlem legend Branson plays in his life.
This week, we’re dropping something special from the CashColorCannabis vault. Earlier this year, Mehka sat down with Colin Fraser—entrepreneur, advocate, and the cover story for CashColorCannabis Magazine Vol. 12—for a powerful conversation about redemption, rebuilding, and reshaping the cannabis industry.
Originally recorded for the magazine feature, this full interview has never been released… until now. With MJBiz happening this week and Upling being featured on Equity Row, there’s no better time to share Colin’s full journey with the world.
In this episode, we discuss how incarceration shaped Colin’s purpose, the realities of social equity in today’s cannabis space, what it takes to rebuild your life and reclaim your voice, why representation in this industry still matters and more
Whether you’ve already read his feature in Vol. 12 or you’re just getting familiar with his story, this episode gives you the full picture behind the man on the cover.

Edit: Impact Row, not Equity Row
Money makes the cannabis world go ’round… but for Black women in the industry, getting access to that money is a whole different story.
In this season-ending episode of the CashColorCannabis Podcast — A Higher Level of Conversation — Mehka sits down with Whitney Beatty and Jessica “Jess” Jackson, two powerful voices featured in the new documentary Kiss My Grass, a film that exposes the uphill battle Black women entrepreneurs face when trying to fund their cannabis businesses.
We dig into: Why access to capital in cannabis is still so broken, how the “green rush” left Black and Brown founders behind, the added challenges Black women face when raising funds, Kiss My Grass, and why this story matters now and more
This is the final episode of our 9th season — and we’re going out with a conversation that cuts right to the heart of the industry.

What happens when comics meet cannabis culture?
In this episode of CashColorCannabis, Mehka King sits down with Box Brown — an award-winning illustrator and author known for using his art to unpack the history, stigma, and politics of weed. From his groundbreaking book Cannabis: The Illegalization of Weed in America and his take on 80s cartoons with The He-Man Effect, Box has mastered the art of storytelling that educates while entertaining.
In this interview, we discuss how getting arrested as a teen shaped his creative path, why comics are the perfect medium for activism, how America villainized the plant, and why we always felt like hitting the toy store after watching Saturday morning cartoons.
If you’re a fan of art, storytelling, or the evolution of cannabis culture, this one’s for you.

In our last episode, we talked about the science behind Wana’s products. In this episode, we get into the taste.
In Episode 2 of Function + Flavor: The Wana Way, the CashColorCannabis Podcast continues our partnership with Wana Brands — this time exploring how they craft gummies that taste as good as they feel.
Host Mehka dives into the art and innovation behind Wana’s award-winning flavors. From sourcing ingredients to fine-tuning every bite. Because when it comes to edibles, great taste isn’t an afterthought — it’s part of the science.
Listen to Mike explain how Wana balances function and flavor to create products customers truly love, and why their commitment to both has kept them leading the pack in the cannabis space for over a decade.
