    • Another great season of R+M. I cannot imagine a life without this amazing podcast to go to after each episode. Many thanks!
    • I'm a sucker for the more sentimental episodes like "Field of Dreams" and "Ricks Days, Seven Nights", so I loved the finale. I can't wait to hear which are your favorite episodes this season. For what it's worth, Jer Bud (w/ the return of Snowball) was one of my least best episodes. However, I went back and watched it again recently and found it more entertaining. The Jerry part of the story is just so good. His line "You are ALL my wife now!" was so reminiscent of the time he said, "I'm the Jesus Christ of Christmas!" So funny!
    • Two things before I close:
    1. Thank goodness for the return of the pool!
    2. I was so glad to hear neither of you remembered where the Mr. Poopy Butthole saga left off. I too was clueless during the close. I gotta go back (or I will just wait for Unity to chime in during the next podcast).

If you've done everything and gone everywhere, he eventually just lets new odd things play out. Hi Travis and Brondon,

Something that didn't even cross my mind while watching, but only when you were started talking about it: could the whole 'drug lab', the barrels and especially the opening sequence be a nod to Breaking Bad?

The cold open did, in hindsight, remind me of the cold opens you'd often see on Breaking Bad, especially in the seasons with the underground lab.

    Greetings from the Netherlands

    From Ranma:

I once again want to ask if you are going to review the comics and not just a general one but an issue by issue review. i bring this up because Jerry in this rickuiem mort a dream reminded me so much of the comic version. we all know that early seasons Jerry would have ran and never look back yet here he goes full in in trying to help and only panics in the end. Jerry Smith the phil dunphy/jack carter of the rick and morty universe.

    Discussion

    • Title Reference: Requiem for a Dream - Movie (2000)
    • Themes (A/B Plot): Empathy Bug (Sympathid) — Rick's chasing personal happiness and Morty isn't helping; Jerry Cosplaying as a Serial Killer — Rick sends Summer and Jerry shopping, Jerry ends up having tea with a killer

    Favorite Bits

    • Morty wrecking Rick's distillery for a ride to buy Pokemon cards (and the portal later dropping a pack right back)
    • Rick's credit card blocking Jerry's purchases
    • The sympathid/empathy effect throughout — the empathy montage, the Dancing with the Stars bit (real dancing, fake trust), Rick and Morty swapping ship seats depending who has empathy
    • Jerry's full serial-killer turn as "The Birthday Butcher," with a metaphorical parent-kill double and a quadruple-kill twins joke

    • Random Jessica sighting in history class, "Miss Under-stood," the jar of wallets on the fridge

    • The unhinged police standoff — the negotiator, "his juice is coming out," "I want a hug" then gunshots, an entire police force out of bullets

    Best/Worst Parts

    • Opening sequence as a whole
    • The stark scene change when the sympathid is removed (and turns out giant)
    • Morty and the teacher post-credits bit, including the shushing
