The Ultimate True Crime Podcast
In some criminal cases, it’s almost like the contrast between the crime and the person committing it, which somehow makes everything more shocking. For example, when the criminal is a police officer – something that seems to occur ridiculously often – breaking the law instead of upholding it. Then there are cases where nurses intentionally harm or even kill the vulnerable people they’re supposed to be caring for. Or when already-disgustingly-wealthy businessmen dodge taxes or run Ponzi schemes so they can make just that little bit more money.

As a parent, sending your children off to college can be scary. It’s natural to worry about your child making the right choices, succeeding in their classes, making new friends, and whether they can take care of themselves without your help. Unfortunately, these issues pale in comparison to the reality of violence occurring on campus. Date rape, domestic abuse, and even murder are all too common once someone is out there in the “real world,” and college campuses are no different.
Content Warnings: murder.

This special episode is a live recording from the Berkshire Podcast Festival, where I joined an incredible panel for Life in True Crime, moderated by Josh Hallmark from True Crime BS. Alongside me were Charlie Worrol from Crimelines, Robin Warder from The Trail Went Cold, and Robert Parmer from The Broken System Podcast.
During the session, we dove into the highs and lows of true crime podcasting, sharing the joys of storytelling, connecting with listeners, and uncovering cold cases. We also discussed our challenges in navigating sensitive content, managing the emotional toll, and maintaining ethical standards. It was a fascinating conversation about the unique world of true crime podcasts and our responsibility as creators.
This live discussion gives listeners a behind-the-scenes look at the true crime podcasting journey, including personal insights and experiences from some of the top voices in the genre.
Content Warnings:
Discussion of true crime cases, emotional impact, and sensitive subjects like violence and justice.

Welcome back to True Crime Cases with Lanie! While Lanie takes a break to recover, Ayden from the podcast Susto steps in as guest host to bring you this week’s intriguing case.
This episode dives into a scandal that could be a subplot from Desperate Housewives. From everyday drama like secret affairs and neighborhood swingers’ parties to criminal enterprises hidden in plain sight, scandals come in all shapes and sizes. But what happens when a quiet, unassuming couple is revealed to be living a life of betrayal and crime?
Today’s case focuses on Kendall and Gwen Myers, a married couple whose seemingly ordinary life concealed a web of deception that left their neighbors shocked. Drawing on a detailed article from Washingtonian, this story takes twists you won’t want to miss.
If you enjoyed hearing Ayden guest-host this episode, check out his podcast Susto! It’s your home for stories of the supernatural and the spooky, exploring folklore, legends, and hauntings. As I’m sure we all know, insurance is a neck pain. To get, to keep, to cash in – every step of the way it’s as tedious as it is crucial. But that’s exactly the issue – it is vital. In a country where medical care and hospital bills are horrifyingly expensive, being hospitalized without insurance is a one-way trip to enormous amounts of debt… and hell, even with insurance people find themselves in the red just for the sheer misfortune of falling sick. Unless you make a generous salary year on year, it always feels like you’re one bout of illness away from never making up the cost.
