Horror for the Casually Obsessed
This week on the Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast, your hosts Kimmi and Jon are talking brand new supernatural irish folklore horror Hokum with writer/director Damian McCarthy!
Hokum follows a disgruntled author (Adam Scott) as he travels to an Inn in rural Ireland where his deceased parents spent their honeymoon, to spread their ashes. Then spookies ensue... Like the appearance of a strange bunny with bulging eyes, a honeymoon suite with a locked gate for an entrance, and an old folktale about an evil witch who snatches children to the underworld.
Note: This is a spoiler-free discussion, we stick to chattin inspiration, irish folklore, and crafting a good scare, not spoiling the film, so you're free to listen to this before catching Hokum!
Hokum hits theatres May 1st.

You know a 1970s Italian Horror is going to go hard when its tagline is "The Corpse That Didn't Want To Die!". On this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street, your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon laugh their way through one of the most confusing (but also, maybe one of the best) Giallos they have ever covered on the podcast.
The Red Queen Kills Seven Times (1972) is everything. It's a murder mystery, a slasher, a ghost story, a sibling rivalry tale, a cop-procedural, and a supernatural family curse all rolled into one wild ride with a bitchin' soundtrack. And don't worry if you don't know anything about this deep cut Italian Horror pick because we just watched it and recorded a whole podcast about it, and we STILL aren't exactly sure what the hell was going on. But also, we loved it! Join ussssss

Where does evil come from? Does it live within us, or is it something we give permission to enter, like a vampire or an annoying house guest who can't take the hint that the party's over and it's time to go home.
On this week's episode of Nightmare on Film Street, your horror hosts Kimmi & Jon discuss the eerie early 2000s psychological horror Session 9 (2001). Join usssss as we dig through some old tapes, debate the origins of evil, and share our own stories about trespassing in abandoned buildings, narrowing avoid death and *gasp* tetanus....

Join us on the moors this week as your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon discuss the horror-ified Sherlock Holmes classic The Hound of The Baskervilles(1959). Starring Hammer Horror icons Peter Cushing and (certified stud, according to Kimmi) Christopher Lee, this supernatural murder mystery delves into family death curses, aristocratic serial killers, and hounds from hell! Its a double-breasted eerie adventure with more outfit changes than a season of Ru Paul's Drag Race and a spooky hell hound that deeeeefinitely isn't just a regular farm dog wearing a mask. Join your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon as they traverse back into the monsterverse (and covid times, ew) to re-visit Leigh Whannell's translucently transcendent horror film The Invisible Man (2020). Say goodbye to the bandages and maniacal laughter of yester-year, and say hello to modern brutalist decor (cement, so much cement), ghosting bad boyfriends who then ghost you back, and celebrating Christmastime but only just barely.
We also chat about monsters, because you know, this is a horror movie. Joinn ussss!

Bodycam is shot entirely from the perspective of two police officers' bodycams during a not-so-normal night shift that takes them to a domestic violence call from hell. We put on our Certified Found Footage Fan™ badges and sat down with Brandon to discuss the unique storytelling of the sub-genre and the even more unique perspective of shooting from the literal chests of your actors, to spooky set design (or just finding the perfect derelict buildings to shoot in), working with Shudder for a 6th feature film, and much more!
Bodycam streams exclusively on Shudder onMarch 13th.

IT'S ALIVE! ...AGAIN!

This genre bending psychological "ghost" story has everything you're looking for in gothic haunting BUT ALSO a wall-crawlin', porcelain mask-wearing, sweat-stained cardigan-sporting sonuvabitch named Brahms. Join ussss as we laugh our way through this surprising clever horror flick and kick off a new collection of movies for Season XII of the show.

Nightmare on Film Street returns March 5th!
And in the meantime, we're sharing with you the first episode of our new Fiend Club mini-series "Too Long; Didn't Watch" where we only watch the 1st act of a movie we previously skipped (because it looked too predictable) and do our best to guess how the movie ends.
We've all complained that modern horror movies are too formulaic and that Hollywood is out of original ideas, endlessly reusing overworked plots or spoon-feeding us copy+paste stories. So, rather than spend what precious little time we have left, we're only allowing ourselves to see the first 30(ish) minutes of a movie before sitting down to record, placing bets on what we think the big twists & turns will be before finding out how accurately we predicted those familiar beats by reading through the Wikipedia synopsis.
First up on our speculative sideshow is afrAId (2024), the AI based techo-horror that is already way outdated BUT accurately predicted how evil Artificial Intelligence would soon become. Join your horror hosts Kimmi and Jon as they brainstorm what could have been, and find out what they got horribly wrong about this Blumhouse robo terror in the inaugural episode of Too Long; Didn't Watch 💀
