Podcast aficionados Chris McCarthy & Rob Hadden are shining a light on some of the best undiscovered podcasts out there. Each episode showcases a different under-the-radar podcast that in addition to being completely real, is also definitely not fake. These shows span genres and feature a variety of hosts and guests who don't sound anything like Chris or Rob. Oh, and don't look for them in your podcast app because you won't find them. Only Chris & Rob know how to find these podcasts and now they are sharing them with you (lucky!).
Today's podcast is hosted by everyone's favorite helper: Microsoft Word paperclip "Clippy". On Word To Your Mother, Clippy tries to teach Word to people's moms. On this episode Clippy and old friend the AOL running guy reminisce about CD-ROMs, Y2K, and their love lives.
Today we take a look at a podcast called "Sex Phone", whose frustrated host is just trying to give people advice on love and romance. Unfortunately, he must wade through a barrage of confused callers and an unhelpful new cohost who his producer found outside the vape store. This podcast contains mature discussion (like about sex) and explicit language (like the f-word).
Today's featured show is a now defunct podcast hosted by airline pilots mid-flight. Hear first hand as the captain and his co-pilot go meticulously down the pre-flight checklist, taxi to the runway, and take off for what everyone hopes will be a smooth, uneventful trip. This is "This Is Your Captain Speaking".
This week's featured podcast is all about the Witness Protection Program and the personal stories of those within it. Anonymous host "The Ostrich" uses voice modulation to mask his guests' identities while trying his best not to reveal them during the interview.
Welcome to Podcast Town, a new show from the creators of Step by Stapp that features a variety of under-the-radar podcasts most people haven't heard of before and are definitely not fake.
For the inaugural episode, we thought it would be appropriate to play a rare recording of the first podcast ever made - a podcast made unintentionally - but a podcast nonetheless. It all began back in 1990 at a Radio Shack in New Jersey...

It's the last episode and this one has a little bit of everything: special guest Erika, Blank Check podcast, listener voicemails, someone being forced to read a monologue, and more!
And obviously we recap the series finale of Step by Step and explain how Scott Stapp wrote the song Higher about it.
On the penultimate episode of the podcast, Julian Morena returns to once again demand royalties for writing the Step by Stapp theme song. Having anticipated this, Chris & Rob bring their lawyer, Chad Nicholas (Nick Baglas) on the show to defend them. Little do they know Julian brought his lawyer as well, Chris's infamous Uncle Jeff (Steve Schifini). What unfolds is a thrilling and, at times, disgusting courtroom drama people will be talking about for years to come.
On Step by Step, Cody's friend who is an old man tries to commit suicide. Plus, the Creed song "Who's Got My Back" is about that episode and we definitely didn't accidentally pick the song not realizing we had just done it two episodes ago.
Ladies & Gentlemen, we have two big announcements. 1.) The Step by Stapp 3rd anniversary show in April will also be the series finale. Yes, this podcast is coming to an end - but a new one is just around the corner! Announcement 2.) Scott Stapp has a new album coming out and the first single has been released. Chris & Rob provide unprecedented access to their process as they analyze new Stapp lyrics live on the show and discover how this new song might be about the Step by Step episode where they all go to family therapy.
If you'd like to leave a voicemail or text to be played on the finale, dial the Step by Stapp hotline at 209-STAPPIT (209-782-7748).
When Rob tricks Chris into guesting on his internet daytime talk show, "Robby", Chris must defend himself against Kayla, an alleged former lover who claims he is the father of 3-year old Brianna. Though Chris insists he has never met Kayla, only a paternity test can truly solve this dispute.
On Step by Step, Frank & Carol find out they are having a baby (aka Brendan replacement) and have mixed emotions. Scott Stapp also had mixed emotions when he wrote the Creed song "Are You Ready?" about this very same episode.
Special guest Kendra joins the show to help do a gritty true crime podcast. Step by Stabb takes a deep dive into the mysterious disappearance of Ron Chadden - a man who vanished after leaving a frantic voicemail for his wife. The twists and turns that unfold upon investigation will truly shock you.
This coincides with the Step by Step season 4 episode where Mark commits the true crime of giving in to peer pressure and egging houses on Halloween. Of course, the Creed song "Who's Got My Back?" covers this in detail.
Episode brought to you by Zack's Snacks and the Step by Stabb official merch store.
