Managing Expectations Equals Solutions | ReWire 1994

Ninety percent of people's problems in their lives and business are that they don't manage expectations properly.

    I've been married 4 times, divorced 3.

A long time ago, when I met Amy, we sat down and had a conversation.

I've been with her about 11 years and once we decided we were going to be getting serious, we sat down and had a conversation.

    Pre-nup.

No matter what you think, everything begins and ends with agreements.

When we discussed our marriage, we outlined what the consequences would be if:

    • Either of us cheated
    • Filed for Divorce
    • Didn't stay in shape

    The list goes on.

The crazy thing is at the time, I was making about 7 figures and she was making 6.

We still have separate bank accounts to this day, but we didn't want our marriage to be anything but successful.

    Do we argue?

    Yes.

    Do we have disagreements?

Yes, just like every other couple.

Imagine if everyone decided to make agreements like this?

What would the world be like?

No matter what you think or believe, there is a always as way to manage expectations better.

    Lean in and take notes.

This one is going to be a game-changer for how you make agreements moving forward in life.

The Human Operating System | ReWire 1993

One thing I've learned about people is if you don't know who they are, they'll show you.

My friend Derrick J Harper shared a post about someone turning on him that he had helped.

    It was destructive.

    Heart-breaking.

He helped this family who couldn't do something for themselves.

    Fast-forward to the message..........

They started shitting on him instead of being grateful.

That's a reflection of most people you help out.

It's easier to turn on someone who has helped you than to reciprocate it.

The truth is, most people offering help are not expecting anything in return.

The same thing happened to me.........

    Lean in and listen.

    Why Don't You Have a Grand?! | ReWire 1992

Let me tell you about some shit that happened to me the other day that really pissed me off.

I got hit in the DM the other day from someone on IG.

The guy is like, "Hey how much for your program?"

While I'm not pushing anything, I was doing a drive recently to our Apex network.

I told the guy it was $1,000.

    He's like, "Well, I don't have a $1,000 right now."

I looked at this guy's bio and it said "entrepreneur" etc.

I told him he probably wouldn't be a good fit for our network.

If you're 30 years old and don't have $1,000, what are you doing with your time?

Why are you in this position?

    My point is this........

    Everyone has problems.......

When I got out of prison, I had $25 to my name.

    No place to live.

    No place to work.

    But, I figured it out.

Let this be a lesson to you.......

If you're in this spot right now, figure out what the fuck you have to do to get out of it!!!!

    Everything boils down to choices!

Do something while you still have one.

What is the Story of Your Life | ReWire 1991

For some people, they have something that happens in their life and it's the one thing that has happened in their life.

    Maybe they beat addiction.

    Alcoholism.

    Cheating.

If you go online on social media, there is something for everyone.....from polygamy to poor me.

    There's a story.

But what happens is, people tend to live a story.

    Do battle.

    Conquer it.

And unfortunately, it's become thie lifelong story.

The problem is, most people don't go beyond one battle or fight to do anything else.

My friend Jon Cheplak fought alcoholism.

    Did multiple stints in rehab.

    Won.

    Moved on to Bodybuilding.

    Won.

Moved on to starting a business and conquering it......

He's still winning and still expanding.

That's how the story of our lives is supposed to go.

Pick a new battle after every success.

    Thats how to life well.

The Most Things People Don't See | ReWire 1990

People see the end results of hard work.

And they want those results for themselves.

It's great when you see someone in your dream car, someone with a ripped body and people desire the end result.

You meet someone successful wearing a fancy watch, wearing fancy clothes and oftentimes, those things are only a mask for the things they did.

They're not showing you the tough times.

The times when they were struggling to pay their mortgage.

To get through a certain mindset.

A bounce back from a failed marriage.

Won't they don't see is the countless hours worked to get those results.

    Going to the gym.

    Mowing the yard.

Most people don't see the countless thoughts trying to keep me from doing the work.

Success is a result of overcoming the temptations of staying in our comfort zones.

It's pushing through the hard things your mind treats as a threat.

I tell my mind to shut the fuck up.

    Do the work.

    And get the result.

The successful mind finds a way to do the hard things to get things done.

    Power on.

The True Power and Meaning of Money | ReWire 1989

Up to this point, I've had everything I've ever wanted in life.

There's really not much I want or need now.

But I had to start with the beginning.

    At first, I wanted money.

I wanted money because I thought and society and media told me I wanted money.

But as I got into everything, I learned really quickly, there are costs to money.

When I started making money, I bought a fancy car, a big house, and then the second year, I bought a watch.

I had already had everything I needed and wanted.

When I started making milions, I hired people thinking I wanted a really big company.

That came with its own set of headaches between more staff and more money.

Here's a little math for you: When I made $20M with my company and had 50 employees, I took home around $2M.

    When I had a company doing $3M, I took home a million.

    Put that in perspective.

Almost the same money, but I didn't have my freedom.

For 2 years, I traveled and worked speaking on stages, working 18 hour days , and being away from my family................

Thanks be to God because that 2 year period set me up for life...............

After going through the cycles of what's possible, I've come to realize what I value most......

It's time with my children and my wife.

You see, money can be freedom, or not.

But it's up to you what you really want...........

    It's not a one-size-fits-all lifestyle.....

Make a decision about what freedom means to you.....

I bet it has nothing to do with money....

If you're smart, you'll figure it out.

Always Be Careful What You Ask For | ReWire 1988

In life, I've asked for patience.

    And guess what I got?

A long wait on things I wanted.

    When I asked for integrity...........

I was tested at every turn.

When I asked about having more responsibility, I got more people to care for, and more bills to go with it.

When you're setting your intentions and asking for more, be sure you know what it is you are asking for.

The path you choose will not be easy.

    There will be trials.

    Tribulations.

And tests to see if you are willing to be who you need to become to receive the gifts you're requesting.

    Stay focused.

And realize, everything you want, you can have right now.

All you have to do is ask.

You've Got to Embrace the Discomfort of Discomfort | ReWire 1987

It's known that an average life exists in the comfort zone.

And it is known that when you live in discomfort, your body will do everything it can to avoid this space.

The truth is, discomfort is where the growth aoccurs for most human beings.

Think about the last tie you lost love.

    Lost money.

    Lost friends.

    Think about your childhood.

Was it good, or was it uncomfortable.

I've lived many lives of discomfort.

At 18, I got my first apartment.

Ten months later, the cops kicked open the door and took me to jail.

    Jail was uncomfortable.

I had no furniture in my apartment and really had none when I got locked up.

When I was married 3 times before and got divorced, I felt the discomfort.

In each and every one of those situations, I used the discomfort of discomfort to make new way.

    I worked harder.

    Worked longer than everyone else.

    And guess what?

    I won.

Last weekend, my 2nd oldest and I mowed 10 acres.

Sure, I can afford to hire soemone, but Im teaching my kids about life and how it woks by staying in the discomfort zone.

It's the only way growth happens.

I still got to the gym and work my body daily.

    I still do yardwork.

I do chores around the house.

I work later and longer at work.

    Why?

In my experience, discomfort keeps me sharp and continuously evolving.

    Figure out what you want.

It's waiting for you in the discomfort zone.

The Tone of Bullshit Has a Frequency | ReWire 1986

If you have been paying attention in this life, there are many people who are full of shit.

The greatest masters have figured it out, too.

Back in the 60s and 70s, they figured out that if you slow down the sound of a song, you can program people.

    It's a real thing........look it up.

    We've seen politicians do it......

"I did not have sexual relations with that woman...." (You did the voice, didn't you?)

My favorite is from Pastor Joe O out of Houston......"My daddy left this big ole church to all of us.....he was such a generous man..."

It happens with sales people, digital marketers, and influencers.

They're flashing their wares and using their voices to do it.

Remember this as you're passively listening to people speak or sing.

    What goes in, comes out......

The question is, what are they putting in?

You'll know if it's good by what's coming out of you.

Are you moved to do great things and take action?

Are you simply getting that dopamine hit from buying something?

Stuck in a rut of negativity and can't get out?

It may be influenced by what you're listening to.....

Tread carefully, and treat your mind like a vault.......only let things in that you can bank on.

Everything else is just the tone of bullshit.

What to Do When You Face the Unknown | ReWire 1985

One of the biggest myths about most people is they think they know themselves.

When I say, "know," I mean TRULY know themselves.

    We're all guilty of it.

While I'm not a fan of therapists, they would even tell you that you don't know the true YOU.

Out here on this planet, we wear masks.

We conceal our fears, doubts, and create this imaginative "enemy" or competition in our heads.

It's the biggest waste of time and we're all guilty of it.

If you want to compete against anyone, compete against yourself.

Compete against the person you were yesterday.

How are you showing up today?

    Are you better or worse?

    Were you a good spouse?

A great friend, parent, employee/business owner?

Did you show up as the truest version of yourself or did you put on a mask and hide yourself from the world?

The best thing you can do to compete in this world is to unravel the person that is truly you.

    Compete with that person.

At the core, who you truly are is better than who you are showing the world.

    Be you.

And you'll have a life most people won't believe.

Real Ones Are The Proof | ReWire 1984

Once you tell yourself the nearly impossible is possible and you do the work to make it happen, you stop focusing on what's possible.

So, you might turn to certain things that show you figured out the impossible.

For me, I didn't really have the best role models growing up, but I became one of those people.

I bought McLaren's and Lambos. I've had damn near every kind you can imagine.

    Flew everywhere on private jets.

And what I realized was that isn't the real me.

Proof came when the last McLaren (720) I owned didn't get driven but maybe 3 times the last 6 months I owned it, I knew I didn't need it.

It did not show proof of my success.

My kids starting asking me more about going to the Ranch and that's when I leaned in and saw the proof of what I needed to see.

I've been pouring into that more than anything........

My proof of success is in spending time with my kids......

    And that's a huge success.
