    Effective Introductions
The University Writing Center hosted a podcast entitled "In a Word" on our local public radio station, KAMU-FM. It aired from 2014-16 and provided short tips on writing and speaking. The podcast was originally conceived and recorded by writing center consultant Mary Beth Schaefer. Later, Candace Hastings, then director of the University Writing Center, took over recording duties with the content being produced by members of the UWC staff, under the editorial direction of Nancy Vazquez and Dr. Valerie Balester. Episodes have included writing memos, cover letters, and thank you letters, designing slides, dealing with writer's block, and writing effective introductions, just to name a few.
