136: It’s time to get rid of the “clutter” that is holding you back.

Well, here we are at the start of the first full week of the new year! How are the new resolutions, the new ways of thinking, and the new habits going?

If you are still dabbling your toes in the pool of change, and unsure if carrot juice, a yoga class, or a 5K will make the biggest difference… consider this:

Anything you would like to see improvement on, whether that is your health, your environment, the company you keep, energy, etc. it all starts in the same place: Remove what doesn’t belong.

Take a look at this in all areas of life, and see what space you can free up so you have lots of room for abundance, joy, and the next exciting adventure!

    With space clearing gratitude,

133: What is your “4 minute mile” goal for 2020?

    Happy New Year!

Before you commit to your 2020 goals, make sure that you aren't limiting yourself by what you think is impossible.

In this episode, I discuss the impact of Roger Bannister who on May 6th, 1954 was the first person in history to break the 4-minute mile barrier. While this was certainly history-making, what followed changed the way we look goal setting and what is possible for us all. You see, 46 days later Roger's record was broken by John Landy. And in the decades that have followed, beating the goal of running a 4-minute mile has been done more than a thousand times.

Runners didn't miraculously start training better, nor did they find faster shoes... they simply BELIEVED they could do it because it had been done, so they now knew it was possible.

What goal have you not gone after, because it's your version of the "impossible 4-minute mile"? Take a second look at what you think is just out of reach and reconsider what is possible. By summoning up our own internal Roger Bannister, we have the ability to change our entire reality.

Start visualizing, by thinking AND feeling what it will be like to accomplish your greatest goal. Roger knew that if he did this every day, breaking the 4-minute mile would undoubtedly happen. We all have this ability. Let's make 2020 the year of unlimited possibility!

Cheers to making the 20's your best year and decade ever!

131: What Happens When You Realize The Coolest Person In The Room Is… Your Mom!?!?

    Happy Mother’s Day!

I am blessed to have an amazing mom, and I am the mom of two incredible daughters.  And as much as I look forward to this day each year, there has not been a time where I really had to reevaluate what it means to be a “great mom” as I have this week.

In this episode I have the opportunity to read an article from a newspaper written about my mother, that had me realizing just how cool she is.  I don’t think “cool” is a word most of use to describe our parents, but she is absolutely, amazingly cool.  Further, I have spent time realizing that while my daughters will always be my daughters, they also are grown up now.  Thus I don’t get the time with them I once did, which at times is hard.  (Which you will hear, it was hard for me just to get through this episode.)

If you are fortunate enough to get to spend Mother’s Day with your mom or your children… make this day the most special one yet.  Be present with the people you love, and recognize just how incredibly amazing they really are.

With Gratitude for all the moms out there,

129: When Mindfulness Meets A Self-Serving Fork In The Road…

Mindfulness.  There are magazines, blogs, books, and hundreds of courses available on this topic.  I have also recorded several podcasts about this, as well.  Yet while I was in London at a conference, I had the opportunity to view mindfulness in a whole new light.

I believe most people have the ability to be kind and considerate when things are going well.  It’s easy to be mindful of others, when there’s no consequence to us.  But what happens when being mindful to someone else, has a perceived negative consequence to us?  What if being mindful means giving up something that you think you deserve, in order to honor someone else, who is also just as deserving?  Are we so ready to be mindful, in that moment?

This is the focus of today’s podcast.  I don’t believe we can truly call ourselves mindful, when there’s a convenience requirement attached to it.  With every situation, we have the opportunity to decide how we will show up.  Making the decision to show up for the betterment of another, especially when it means stepping aside, is the goal of anyone dedicated to living mindfully.  Be that example today, for someone else.

Lastly, a big shout out to Richard Chan, founder of www.idaretobeme.com.   If you are looking for some inspiration that will challenge what you believe to be possible for your life, check out his work.  And thank you Richard for this kind recommendation:  https://idaretobeme.com/recommendations/blogs-podcasts

128: Perspectives On Meditation, Consciousness, And Your Next Social Media Post

I think most people when faced with a situation that feels much larger than us, have felt, “What impact can I truly have?” So we go through life believing that our thoughts, our words, or our actions, have no consequence in the big picture.  If that’s the case, then what is, collective consciousness?

Here’s one definition, so that we are all on the same page:

Collective consciousness (sometimes collective conscience or conscious) is a fundamental sociological concept that refers to the set of shared beliefs, ideas, attitudes, and knowledge that are common to a social group or society. The collective consciousness informs our sense of belonging and identity, and our behavior.

This is the set up to today’s podcast as I interview my new friends who are here with me at One World Academy.  I ask them what their greatest take-aways are with their time here, and the impact of really understanding the impact of our “state” will be, as they each move forward through life.

127: What Does It Mean To Be Truly Present?

I think it’s fair to say that most people would consider themselves being “present” whenever they are in a conversation with someone.  They were there, they heard that the other person was talking, so they can check that box.  However, there is a big difference between hearing someone and truly listening.  In this episode “being present” is highlighted as one of the key focus points at “The Field of Transformation” course here at One World Academy.

In our fast paced world of multi-tasking and 10X’ing everything we do, we have lost the art of communication with another.  This has cost us relationships with others and more importantly, the relationship we have with ourself.

This week is “Meditation Teacher Training.” I look forward to bringing you one more podcast here from India, before heading to London.

He came into the shelter with an injury to his leg, but our awesome vet staff removed it and he is feeling much better than before and doing great! Only having three legs does not slow Benz down, he is very energetic and full of life. He would love an active family that will spend time playing with him, and give him all the love he deserves! Help this wonderful kitty find the fur-ever home of his dreams!

126: Live From India, Please Join Me On The Journey

If you have EVER considered traveling to a location that is far away, a place you know little about, and is different from every aspect of your current life… make 2017 the year you do just that.  There is such tremendous value when you can gain perspective and insight on your own life, when you make the effort to become an observer of your life. The best way to do that, is to step FAR away from it, and put yourself if a place that has you asking all sorts of different questions than what you normally ask.

For this particular episode, I once again talk about meditation.  This is meant for the people who feel they:

    1. Have no time.
    2. Don’t understand the value.
    3. Can’t stop their mind from chattering and racing, so they give up.

1: If you have no time, it is because you have no clarity. Meditation will help, better than any other single thing you could do.

    2. If you don’t understand the value, it is because of point three: You have given up too soon.

3: Now point three about the mind chatter… I give you insight into the first two minutes every time I sit in silence.  Maybe this will give you some perspective, that we are not so far apart.  Stick with it.

If you are truly going to make 2017 different than any other year, you must start taking different actions.  I don’t know of a better, or more effective way of creating a life that has true meaning than starting with a meditation practice.

125: Misinterpretations, Traveling To India, And Losing It Over The Pet Of The Week

Have you ever wondered how many times you “got it wrong?” This includes interpreting a text the wrong way, an email, or what someone said.  And it doesn’t stop there.  Once we assign meaning to that communication, we start passing judgement about the person who said it, and create a story or a “belief” around what must be.  The downfall is, we are often wrong.

In this podcast this topic is front and center as it affects our thoughts, every decision, and ultimately our destiny.  I have said more times than I can count, “The quality of your answers is a reflection of the quality of questions you ask.”   If you ask a bad question, you will get a bad answer.  I have three good questions you should consider adding to your 2017 arsenal:

    What else could this mean?

What would I have to believe for this to be true?

What in this is happening FOR me, rather than TO me?

I hope that this year finds you asking a better quality question, assigning meaning to events that will serve you, and finding the good in every situation.

We are also continuing our “pet of the week” and this one took me by surprise.  This is what happens when you don’t read the script ahead of time, and the mistreatment of animals, breaks your heart… while the podcast is still recording.  We all have the ability to make a difference in this lifetime.  I hope this podcast continues to inspire you to do just that!

Meet beautiful Bella (A1498189)! She’s a very sweet and lovable girl. She’s also very smart and treat motivated; she knows how to sit, stay and lay down for them! Bella came into the shelter with facial wounds, but the amazing Vet Staff here has been taking great care of her and it’s doing much better! Our Vet Staff would be happy to discuss the details with you and any further treatment she may need. She’s dog selective so she needs to be the only dog in the home or go to a dog experienced family that knows how to properly introduce her to other doggies. She loves getting lots of affection, and back rubs from you are her favorite. She’s ready to find the unconditional love and happiness she deserves. Help Bella find her fur-ever home for the New Year!

    BELLA

124: The First Step in Goal Setting – Mindset.

First of all, thank you to everyone who supported me in getting my first book, Fate, Destiny, and The Power of Free Will on Amazon’s Best Seller list in Philosophy, on New Year’s Eve! I could not be more appreciative or grateful.  This also allowed me to get one of my 2016 goals checked off, literally just under the wire!!!

    Now on to 2017!

My belief has always been that no matter what you want to accomplish in life, from losing weight to setting a world record… it all starts with mindset.

In this episode the goal is to contemplate some questions that you may not have asked yourself in a typical goal setting class:

    1. What went well and not so well, in 2016?  Understanding the mindset that created those decisions will allow us to shift them or amplify them in 2017.
    2. Don’t focus on the sand or pebbles.  Focus on the big rocks… the things moving forward that will absolutely change the game for you.
    3. What do you REALLY value?  Is that lined up with how you spend your time every day?  For most, this is where we find the lack of fulfillment.  The more you can shrink that gap, the more easily you will find joy every day.
    4. What is YOUR question, that you will ask before you start each day?  This will shape what you look for, thus find… and easily can have the biggest impact on your year and your life.
    5. Plan your big event for 2017 now.  What events, masterminds, or meetups can you attend to help you learn, grow, and contribute to a much higher degree than ever before?  Get these events on your 2017 calendar before the end of January, or it likely won’t happen.

Surround yourself with everything magical in your life; people, places, and things.  From this place you can share that magic with people who need it the most.  But you can not give away what you do not have.  Let’s all make 2017 the year of magic, contribution, and endless possibility!

    With blessed gratitude,

    Michelle Dutro

123: The Power Of Messengers… The Recurring Message of 2016

I think we have all have had that moment where we have felt the perfect person came to us, just at the right time.  They helped us see things in a different a light, offered the help when we needed it, or connected us with a resource that we were lacking.  But how often do we consider the people who in the moment seem, well… less than helpful, as messengers as well?

Have you ever considered that everything and everyone you run across could be a messenger of some sort?  Maybe someone knows how to push our buttons and they do so on a regular basis.  What if they are in our lives to help us manage our reactions and emotions in a more healthy way?  You see, even in the most challenging of situations there is always something to be learned.  There is some opportunity for growth… if we chose to see it that way.  Today’s episode covers this topic as it was one of the most frequent for me in 2016.  I hope every messenger that comes your way in 2017 helps you to see things in a different light, and you see them all for the true blessing that they are.
