    Lanterns Episode 4 Review

Derek and John chat all about the very twisty Lanterns Episode 4 "The Weenie" in full spoiler filled detail. Do we know who the Manhunter is or just get even more candidates for the list?

Lanterns Episode 4 “The Weenie” Synopsis

    Episode Written by: Breannah Gibson

Episode Directed By: Geeta Vasant Patel

In 2016, Sinestro gives Hal Jordan information about the Manhunters physiology and also suggests delivering the Manhunter to the Guardians to undermine John Stewart, proving he is unfit to replace him as Earth's Green Lantern.

Meanwhile back on Earth, as John and Hal continue to hang around Rushville, John is visited by the Guardian, Lianna, at his motel room who tells him the time in now right for him to replace Hal and urges him to take the ring.

With the Alien Antaan's, 48 hour deadline to identify the Manhunter rapidly approaching, Hal and John's stakeout of the Macon ranch identifies a hidden structure or "Weenie" being guarded by several lookout towers. Suspecting William's benefactor is at his ranch, Hal and John infiltrate the property, after looping in Sheriff Kerry Kane, and discover an armoury of high-tech weapons. After triggering an alarm they are captured and brought in front of William Macon. John is asked to draw William in the nude, while his wife, Zoe is present. During this unusual capture, William reveals quite a lot to Hal and John and also tells them he is protecting the benefactor's identity in exchange for ensuring Rushville's safety. Half and John are saved by the intervention of Sheriff Kane who takes them into custody.

Later, Zoe secretly visits John at his motel room to convince him to leave town but fails and in so doing also reveals a lot more as she extends her stay with John in his room. Leaving the motel with a bounce in her step, Zoe's truck is destroyed by an orbital strike and she apparently dies.

Hal and John, with the help from Kerry Kane who has been gathering evidence from her husband's files, traces the attack to Atlas, Inc. A company involved in high-tech abattoirs and owned by Hector Hammond. When Hal pushes his bluff he owns up to being a decoy and identifies William as the real Manhunter.

However, Hal later deduces that Zoe is the Manhunter and that John already knew it. After he gets John to call Antaan to arrange a meeting, Hal jumps from their car and causes it to crash, leaving John inside.

    Lanterns Episode 1 Review

Welcome to the podcast fellow guardians, we are finally back in the DC TV universe with Lanterns Episode 1 "Pilot". The brand new DC series on HBO Max.

    Lanterns Episode 1 “Pilot” Synopsis

Episode Written by: Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King

    Episode Directed By: James Hawes

In 1996, the young John Stewart and his brothers watch on as Earth's only ever Green Lantern reveals his identity to the world. He is Hal Jordan and he was chosen as the successor of Green Lantern Abin Sur after he crashed his ship and died. He just had to answer one question "Is he afraid?". When John's father arrives home he asks the same question of his son while shooting an apple off his head.

Twenty years later, in 2016, John Stewart is now supposedly being mentored by Hal Jordan to become the next Green Lantern. When John received a cryptic message from a holographic projection of a kinder, younger Hal from inside the Green Lantern ring, it sends the duo to Rushville, Nebraska.

With little support from Hal, John helps the town's Sheriff, Kerry Kane to capture a suspect involved in a mass shooting at their town's football stadium. But Sheriff Kane forbids Hal from joining the investigation, believing the case has no extraterrestrial connection.

Trying to get close to the suspect, Hal gets himself arrested for a bar fight, but the Sheriff keeps him separated in jail until he is bailed out by lawyer, and Kerry's husband, Billy Macon. In return, Hal agrees to meet Kerry's father-in-law William Macon Senior, who arranges for Hal to interrogate the suspect, Waylon Sanders.

During the interrogation, Hal exposes Sanders as an alien; In retaliation the alien detonates a bomb in his body but Hal uses the last of his ring's power to contain the damage.

Ten years further on, in 2026, John Stewart returns to Rushville, where the Macon farm has fallen to rack and ruin. Back at the town's football station, Sheriff Kerry Kane shows him a dead and frozen Hal and John notices he's missing his Green Lantern ring.

    Spider-Man Brand New Day Review

Two billion dollars in the bank already and Spider-Man Brand New Day is already one of the biggest hits of 2026 and rightly so. Our full team are finally back to discuss all of this best moments from this years Marvel and Sony collaboration. Make sure you've watched the movie before you jump into our fully spoiler filled chat.

Synopsis for our Spider-Man Brand New Day Movie Review

    Directed by Destin Daniel Cretin.

Written by: Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.

Based on characters by - Steve Ditko and Stan Lee

Four years after Dr. Strange erased Peter Parker from everyone’s memory, Peter has completely committed himself to being Spider-Man. He visits Aunt May’s grave, secretly checks in on Ned Leeds and MJ at MIT, and spends every other waking hour fighting crime across New York. When a tank goes on a rampage, Spider-Man first has to stop vigilante Frank Castle before stopping the tank. Inside, Peter finds a confused woman and something much stranger: an unseen entity that jumps from body to body inside the Department of Damage Control, eventually freeing Mac Gargan, aka The Scorpion. Yelena Bolova tells Peter this isn’t ordinary mind control. It's small potatoes but the attacks are connected to something called “V-Max.”

Stranger things get even more complicated when Ned returns to New York. Peter secretly follows him to a house-warming party, where he also sees MJ — now with another boyfriend. The sight of her sends Peter spiralling, and soon his own spider DNA begins to mutate. With help from Dr. Bruce Banner, Peter manages to create a device to suppress the changes. But when Spider-Man finally tracks the entity to The Scorpion, it possesses MJ and threatens to kill her. Peter discovers the truth: the entity is actually the mutant Jean Grey, who is searching Damage Control for V-Max. Jean takes control of the Hulk, leading to a massive fight with Spider-Man and Frank Castle. They eventually separate Jean from Hulk, but something goes horribly wrong — No Banner, No girl, only Hulk!

Peter manages to calm Hulk and capture Jean, but she mentions the name "Sarah" before passing out. With help from MJ and Yelena, Peter discovers that Sarah is Jean’s missing sister, who was experimented on by Damage Control and Director Metzger. And the mysterious V-Max? It was nothing more than words written on an air-conditioning unit in the room where Sarah died. When Jean learns the truth, her grief explodes into rage, and she takes control of a kilometre of New York and its citizens. Peter fights his way through mind-controlled Hand ninjas to reach her, then allows Jean inside his mind. There, through memories of Aunt May, Peter convinces Jean that she is loved and promises to help her.

But before he can save her, Frank Castle takes a sniper shot at Jean. Peter uses his new abilities to get Jean out of the way — and takes the bullet himself. Jean keeps him alive long enough for the doctors at Metro-General Hospital to save him. When Peter wakes up, Frank helps him escape as New York celebrates Spider-Man as a hero. Peter returns to his anonymous life, until he runs into Ned at a local bodega. This time, Peter introduces himself. He uses their old handshake, and Ned immediately knows how to complete it. For just a moment, it seems like his oldest friend might remember him after all.

    Episode Synopsis:

Ogden comes to Ben Reilly's apartment to plead with him to stop Robbie Robertson from publishing his story on Dr. Fabor’s experiments.

He reveals that he served in the war as well, but his mutation has rapidly aged him. When Ben refuses to cooperate, he drugs him to forcibly bring him to Faber's lab.

Dr. Faber reveals that Ogden is her son and she's determined to find a cure for the metahumans to help him. While the blood tests on Ben reveal nothing of note Dr Faber begins examining Ben's organs.

During her operation, Ben has nightmares about the procedures and changes he endured after the spider bite.

After analysing the samples from Ben’s liver Dr. Faber is able to develop a cure and restores Ogden to his true age. She plans to kill Ben so they can cover their tracks, now that Robbie’s article has been published, but Ogden allows him to escape to repay his services.

Meanwhile Silvermane and his men invade the facility to find more metahumans to join their ranks. After seeing other mutated soldiers that Faber failed to save and getting shot at by Ogden, Dirk Leyden kills Faber and Ogden. As the resulting fire blows up the lab, Ben manages to evade notice by Silvermane, Flint, Dirk and Lonnie and escapes the laboratory with Faber’s antidote in his possession.

    Episode Synopsis:

After Cat Hardy learns that Ben Reilly is The Spider he takes her on a proper date to Millie's Diner. Ben reveals that he got his powers fifteen years earlier during the final days of World War I.

After discovering German experiments on POWs he was liberating, he was bitten by a mutated half-spider prisoner. From that day on Ben had arachnid DNA.

Armed with an unmissable exclusive story about The Spider’s battle with the electric powered Dirk Leyden, Robbie Robertson reclaims his job at the Daily Bugle.

He and Janet discover every metahuman had been treated by the same physician Dr. Alethea Faber before developing powers.

While Robbie interrogates Dr. Faber and her secretary Ogden, The Spider steals medical files proving Faber tried to cure the metahumans but instead aggravated their conditions, and now they will all die if they keep using their powers.

Meanwhile Flint Marko, now Silvermane's right-hand man, recruits Lonnie Lincoln and together they free Dirk Leyden from prison to join them.

Now armed with his super powered muscle men, Silvermane warns Ben to keep the Spider out of his conflict with Mayor Morris.

Worried for their lives, Ben asks Cat to leave the city with him and she agrees, but her former partner Flint Marko confronts her over hiring the fire powered Addison to kill Silvermane without telling him.

Lincoln informs Cat that Faber believes seeing the Spider could help her find a cure, leading Cat to reveal Ben's secret to Dr Faber and Ogden.
