It is a special occasion at any point when someone actually comes to the studio to sit in for a live show…and my parents were up for a visit…it spread over a Tuesday night…and my Dad was happy to sit in and take in the show as the first live guest in show history. More than a decade and a half later…there are still only a small handful of guests as you compare them to “virtual” or phone connected guests.

    10:14pm - Leading off the 2nd hour is our new friend and sandwich making and rating expert, Barry Enderwick from "The Sandwiches of History" fame. Last time Barry was on, we talked about how he got into this whole sandwich making thing and how it has really caught on through his IG channel. Tonight we talk about some of his favorite sandos (and not so favorite sandos) since the last time we talked.     10:35pm - Closing the show tonight is someone that, in my opinion, is changing the BBQ/Grilling game more than anyone else right now. Chris Young shows up to tell us all about the benefits of resting your steak...or not resting your steak! He conducted experiments to show EXACTLY what is really happening when you rest those steaks or when you don't rest those steaks. Is there a difference? What do you do? If you haven't seen the video yet, you will definitely want to go back and check it out on his YT channel...it's amazing!

    Taking you back to 4/14/2009 -  A BBQ & Grilling legend…owner of the ICONIC East Coast Grill in the New England area…Chris Slay-Singer. Chris is one of the guys that I look to as one of the biggest names that effectively helped grow the art of using a real live-fire grill in the restaurant and commercial setting…there weren’t a lot of people doing it like that back then…in fact, Chris helped inspire many of the New England BBQ cooks to include Chris Hart from I-Que and my long-time man crush Andy Husbands…and, if being a successful restaurateur was enough…he also write many books on the subject, that to this day, are still widely considered to be thee reference material that helped move the industry forward…titles like “Thrill of the Grill” and “License To Grill” are still books people mention to this day as ones they use to help them become better live-fire cooks…so if you aren;t familiar with Chris…this is a great way to get introduced to a legend!

    Taking you back to 4/15/208 - If you run barrel or WSM style cookers, you have probably heard the term "MM" or "Minion Method" thrown around when it comes to lighting it. But do you know where this "Minion Method" came from? It came from a legendary BBQ guy out of the Pacific Northwest named Jim Minion, who on a whim, tossed some lit charcoal on top of some unlit charcoal in order to control the temperature of the cooker on the way up. It was instantly successful and widely adopted as the best way to manage a charcoal fire for long cooks. It might be time to chase Jim Minion down and catch up!
