Maybe you've noticed the little letters in your Bible pointing to additional verses in the margin, maybe you haven't! These are cross references, and we think they are one of the most important tools for studying Scripture! These notations help guide you to verses with similar words, theme, or context for the verse you are studying. Scripture interprets Scripture, and this is a key skill to understanding that. Join Autumn and Annabel as they walk through WHY these are important and how to use them!
Does it matter who wrote the Bible? Does it matter who the Bible was written to? Someone’s background, education, and life experiences change the way we perceive what they say. Who we are, what we believe, or where we live all determines how we receive new information and how we may feel about it. When studying Scripture, knowing the author & audience of a particular book or chapter helps us gain insight into what they are saying. Join us as we talk through this essential study tool on this week's episode!

Summer reading season! Reading through the Bible, you may notice there are so many different types of books and writing styles in Scripture. These are separated into Biblical literature types or genres, and knowing the type you are reading helps understand the context. Reading poetry differs from reading letters between friends; reading historical narrative differs from reading prophecy! Join Autumn and Annabel as they explain these different genres in the conclusion of season 16 of the Oh Hey Truth podcast!
