    Episode 4: Razor

Outside, at night, in a cemetery: Hayward Foundation sociologist Dr. Halley Brooks and her team of paranormal researchers investigate legends of a razor-wielding apparition. Sometimes, scholarship can be murder.

What lies beneath may also walk at night.

Years ago, there was a barber who lost his mind and turned his razor on young, unsuspecting ladies. As if the horror wasn’t enough then, his ghost is said to roam among the monuments to this day in an old cemetery in a dark woods well outside of town.

The legends might seem hokey, but the local folklore is so full of ghost stories and sightings that they draw the attention of promising young scientist Halley Brooks. She’s put together a team of young researchers for a field school project.

Using experimental and sophisticated tools, they’ve set out to monitor the site and record any disturbances. Could this be the site that establishes once and for all that the netherworld actually exists and spirits walk the earth?

Or could the graveyard welcome them into its grave confines… forever.

    Episode 3: The Tree

It all started with a little boy. The last child of the Hayward line met a terrible fate, and his grief-stricken parents could never let go. The Hayward Foundation for research into the paranormal and supernatural was established with their vast fortune.

Twisted and turned, a gnarled and ancient tree haunts the poor, injured child.

Working late one night, Dr. Atwater learns the tragic and chilling story behind the sanitarium from the groundskeeper, Chester.

The building that is now the strange sanitarium was once the sprawling mansion of one wealthy family. The Haywards had a long and checkered history, building a considerable fortune on the seas in lucrative merchant shipping enterprises.

The last heir of a proud line, young James Atwater falls prey to a fever after climbing and falling from an ancient and gnarled tree . Just outside his bedroom where he’s recovering, the tree sways and brushes against the window. Maybe it is his imagination, maybe it is the laudanum the doctor has prescribed, or maybe the long, claw-like branches of the tree are really trying to get the helpless lad.

    Episode 2: Thirst

As if his first case isn’t strange enough, one of his new colleagues calls Dr. Atwater in to consult with a puzzling patient who believes she is undead. Her delusions are so vivid, so complete and so deadly, but they couldn’t possibly be real, could they?

One of the most dangerous patients in the Sanitarium’s history, Maria Cacador is a notorious serial killer.

Christened by the tabloids as “The Vermont Vampire,” the curious case of Maria Cacador is one of the most notorious among the patients of Hayward Sanitarium. Her charms conceal a cunning mass murderer. The authorities who prosecuted her case believed her victims numbered many more than could be proven in court.

Deep in the Sanitarium’s maximum security wing, she lives out the life the undead, shunning food and drink and maintaining nocturnal habits. Unable to break through, it is hoped that Dr. Atwater’s specialty in exploring the subconscious and dream states through hypnosis will finally produce some success in her treatment.

But he might unlock a deeper and darker truth than he is prepared to accept.

    Episode 1: The Head

Dr. Richard Atwater is starting a new life, hoping to leave the shadow of tragedy behind him. But the quaint little town he’s moved to has a dark shadow hanging over it, and that shadow extends from the old sanitarium where he’s going to be working.

The Hayward Foundation explores the supernatural world, seeking to document it and its existence.

The Hayward Sanitarium is a historic – and very unique – place. All the patients have a connection to the supernatural and paranormal. Some are victims, but more are convinced the daemons they’re afflicted with are not just figurative, but quite real. Some have incredibly violent pasts, some are actually killers.

The small staff of doctors, nurses and orderlies explore their delusions as part of the Hayward Foundation’s global mission to document, study and understand society’s relationship with the supernatural… searching for proof that it actually exists.

Dermott O’Brien uncovered a horrible evil in an old church, or that’s what he believes.

Dr. Atwater meets his first patient, who turns out to be a former field researcher working on a Hayward Foundation project. His last assignment went wrong… horribly wrong.
